This sounds like an infection. We had a cat that was rescued out of the road who had very bad ear mites. The problem is that the mites can chew an open wound deep in the ear canal that then gets infected. Using mite medication will actually make this problem worse because while it will kill the mites, it will make the wound and infection worse. You should take her back to the vet and have her checked for an infection. A week or so of anti-biotics combined with mite medication will clear up the problem.
However, be aware that mite medication takes a while to work. You didn't say how long ago you visited the vet- give the mite medication a full three days to work, and call the vet before you go in to see if it should take longer than that.

Try a different type of ear mite med and take a q-tip and carefully clean her ears out really well with the ear mite meds. If that doesn't help talk to your vet and explain the problem.

My cat, Little Bear, has bad ear mites. She's scratched her self open around the ear area. She is on Mita-Clear ear medicine that you have to drop some in the ear, massage it around, and clean out any dirt. Your cat probably won't like it but it's good stuff. Got it from my vet.
Revolution isn't enough. Ask your vet about some ear drops or Mita-Clear.
good luck!

Your cat may have ear mites. There is a liquid stuff that the vet can give you and it will help your cat. I hope your cat will be ok.

This is a common act of the cat. They usually scratch with the help of their lower legs. But scratching until the fur comes off means he/she might be suffering from a minor allergy, not earmites or some thing else. You should sprankle "Clotrimazole Powder" which is being made by many companys example "Frecia" thrice daily. Its anti-fungal & soothing agent with deodorant. You need not woory ur mimmy will be allright...

Sounds like an ear infection, my dog did the same thing, I took her to vet, they prescribed ear drops for about $20.00, takes about 5 days to clear up but continue giving till drops are gone.

Until you can talk to or see the vet you need to get a no scratch collar on her to keep her from injuring herself anymore. You can stop in at the vet's office and ask for one or can make a homemade one to use temporarily. Check out this link:

Did the vet give you drops or an antibiotic pill? We had both. You may need to re-see your vet or at least call and tell him what's going on.
