a friend of mine joined the army last yr and is married but put on the applications and everything that she wasn't married. Now someone contacted her from the special investigators for the army regarding her clearance and background check...could it be that they found out? If so, what could happen??

Well Robin, she was stupid to have lied, particularly about that. It is your responsibility to be honest with the investigator, regardless. It is a matter of national security that he is contacting you about.

If she was going for a job requiring a security clearance, it will likely not go through. Once her security clearance is denied, if she has already cleared BCT, she will be reassigned to another MOS based on needs of the Army.

Tough luck for her because "needs of the Army" usually means jobs that nobody wants (i.e. fuel specialist and truck driver AKA IED enhancers).

She was warned many times if she was applying for a security clearance that lying could disqualify her. She's an idiot for lying about something like that.

She is in serious trouble now. She lied! Someone will give her up or the paperwork will be found. She will lose her security clearance and may lose her MOS because of that. Minimum. If she has already wasted the army time and resources then she is probably gone. If not, she may be reclassified to a plain ole infantry. (Nothing against the infantry) She needs to come clean now!

Oh, good gracious... she lied about being married and thought they wouldn't figure it out? This is NOT the Jerry Springer hour.. it's the US Government, for cryin' out loud...

If they're willing to let her stay in the Army, she'll probably get a grunt job... If not, she'll be dishonorably discharged.. which will taint her future job prospects forever.

The military wants to take young people of character and grow them into adults of character and principle... Unfortunately, she lied her way into it... which just proves she's not what they're looking for.

"I Agree"
It was very idiotic, they might kick her out of the army. I hate to say it.

um they are going to find out eventually. it was stupid for her and him to lie. the army can take care of his wife when he gets deployed, had they known about her. the army owns her man. she needs to come clean and get everything straightened out before something bad happens.

Why would she lie anyway? Didn't she want the BAH and all the other benefits you get for being married?
