OMG, it seems like my lifetime!!! I have an almost 4 month old cockapoo and it's already over a month and I really don't think I'm winning the battle---according to the vets and the books--don't scold them when they mess in the house--just loudly say no---get them outside every 2-3 hours unless they are in a crate- which I highly and they also recommend. Obviously outside right after eating and as soon as they wake up--that's after their 20 million naps a day also---and teach them a key word to relate to what they are doing--I say let's go potty--take him outside and when he goes--I love him up and tell him good boy you went potty!!!--and then he goes in the house and poops---so he's 1/2 trained---I guess the rug is softer on his butt than the grass or the grass tickles him--don't know--but dont use the training papers- that only teaches them to GO IN THE HOUSE---good luck to you....have patience--oh the vet said to give them a treat after they go outside-but let's face it, they'll be blubber balls before they are completely trained.

It depends on how much effort you are willing to exert. It takes a lot of patience and a lot of work. Our puppies were both potty trained one week after we got them. Completely house trained by 10 weeks old. I put a lot of work and patience and it paid off in the end. Just make sure you stick to one routine to avoid confusion with your puppy. If properly trained, your life will be a lot easier.

It will depend on the breed and your patience! In the beginning I would take them out every hour or two if you can. I would repeat the command "go potty" and when they do it, and only after they are done doing it, praise them with a "good go potty!". Eventually they will be able to go on command with "go potty". For accidents that happen in the house, don't let them see you cleaning it up because then they'll assume it's OK to go in the house.

It depends on the dog and on the effort you put into it. If you are consistent in making sure the puppy goes wherever you want to, at the same time everyday, same place. If you continue it day in and day out, it should take a couple of months, but expect accidents. Good Luck!
Dont forget, your dog will be as smart or as "stupid" as its owner. All dogs are smart, just be sure you are consistent. As the saying goes which is pretty much the same "A computer is only as smart as its user".

Expect somewhere between one month and six months depending on the dog. Depends on the type of dog, how you train it, and many other factors. Small dogs usually take longer to train than larger dogs. I had a six week old Blue Heeler train himself in about two days (ridiculously smart dog)...a friend's 9 year old minature dachund still isn't trained! Some breeds are smarter than others...and some dogs are more eager to please than others.
Crate training has always been the best solution for my dogs...with a properly sized crate, they dog won't eliminate when he's in it...and if you're faithful to take him outside IMMEDIATELY every time you let him out, he'll learn much more quickly than he'll learn if you allow him to have accidents in the house!

I trained my lab in two weeks, \however this required extreme dilligence, I took her out every 2-3 hours round the clock, I would have her sit at the door I wanted her to go out of and then take her out, I also trained her to sit when she came back in to have her paws wiped for when it was raining out. However it also depends on the dog, bust most of the time if you use the praise and reward system\ and stay dilligent it won t be long

Mine took 2-3 weeks...with a few accidents...but you have to be very persistent. Every time it eats take it out and when it goes outside, praise it and tell it good boy/girl. I gave mine treats when it went outside...she was more than happy to go outside after that. What ever you do, do not scold it for accidents, after all, it's our job to make sure it's walked enough when it needs to go. It cannot help it if it needs to go and we do not take it out. I was taking my puppy out about every 30 minutes to an hour on some days. But mostly more often when she was eating and drinking a lot.

it depends on how old it is or how smart it is. you should hang a bell on a string on the door knob and before you take your dog outside rub its nose against the bell to make a noise and in no time it will go to the door and ring the bell when it has to go out. it didnt take long at all for my dog to learn this and it works so well!

It all depends on the pup and how much time you can devote to tarining it. I housebroke a male chihuahua pup in 3 days and they are known for being hard to break. It takes patience, time and love.
