Ok so, I had cancer almost three years which caused my hair to fall out. It grew back thankfully but now it is really thin and flat, which makes my hair kind of lifeless. I am in college now which of course means that I have virtualy no money, so I'm just wondering how I can make my hair have some "oomph" without setting m back on gadgets that I mot likely won't use.

So glad to hear about your recovery, and that you are in college...congratulations! Hair loss is really tough to go thru and I've been there. I've paid $$$ for expensive hair salon products (Nioxin, etc.) but find that keeping my ferritin levels higher, taking good multivitamins, along with a decent shampoo/conditioner have really helped (now I just use Dove and it volumizes perfectly). I also blow-dry my hair upside-down and this helps it look fuller. All the best!

There is a product by "Rusk" called "Thick" and also I would recommend "Mousse" by the same company. Only available through a salon. Call the shops in your area and find out who carries "Rusk" and go from there.
The only other thing I could recommend is a perm.
Hope this helps.
I have been doing hair for over 30 years.

First start with a volumizing mousse (any brand will do) then Get a fat curling lron (can be bought at a store, some under $20) and curl your hair under section by section. Can also be done with a fat round brush and blow dryer ( wrap hair around brush while blowdrying). If your hair tends to get frizzy finish with a serum. Good Luck!!

When your hair is still wet from a shower you will want to hang your head upside down and put some gel (this will only cost a few dollars at a drugstore) in to it. Then blow dry it while it is upside down. Flip your hair back up when its dry and your hair will have more volume!

good luck and best of wishes!

Go to a good, professional hair stylist and ask for something layered that you can wash and go and will require little maintenance and grow out nice so you can come back in six weeks and get a trim.

Mark Anthony products at CVS are wonderful. I use the simply straight line but my sister uses the volume up I think it is called. If it is by Mark Anthony it will be great and is less than $10.00

Good luck!
