We couldn't wear Van Halen concert shirts in Seminary because of a Goat head or something on the back. What's the deal?

Seminary was part of high school. What we wore to school, we wore to seminary. It just happened that way, get over it.

I road a motorcycle to 'cemetery' class. I was told not to, and that a 'proper ride' for me would be appropriate and arranged. How sweet and concerned.
What is a more proper and appropriate ride than a '56 Duo Glide?
Besides the leaks?

Geez they should just be happy you were there at all! I swear, in my seminary class there's like, a 50% attendance rate, and that's on a good day. And half the people that DO show up are jack mormons that are only there because of their parents. Woo! 25% of the mormon youth population is on the path! We're going strong just like hinkley said!
For those of you who know me, here's a little update: yes i still have to go to church, but what REALLY sucks is that i still have to go to seminary. Ugh...and i'm going to have a really hard schedule next year. Not exactly looking forward to that. The funny thing though, is my parents actually think i'm not going to ditch every day. Ha! They're so nieve. I tell them i dont believe the church, and then they honestly think i'll go in. It'll be a nice study period before school, out in the hall.

Van Halen was around when all the bakmasking hesteria was going on. Especially with the Led Zeplin and the starir way to heaven played backwards was the stairway to hell, I played another one bites the dust backwards and you can hear "choose to smoke marjawanna" pretty eerie. The mormons played the stairway to hell backwards for us away from the sancuary, I forget what they called the main meeting place, as to not upset God and all, but that was pratty wacko as well, to make a point how wild it all sounded, they were trying to make Ozzy satanist, he to. It was all the hate of the heavy metal music.
If the teacher specifically said the goat, then it was the goat, if he said the t=shirt, then it was the heavy metal band in general.

It's not the goat, it's wearing inappropriate attire to Seminary. It was probably distracting. I'm a member of the Church and I have nothing against goats. I don't like creepy crawly bugs too much though.

Wearing a T-shirt to seminary is never appropriate, regardless if it has a goat on the back or the Harley-Davidson signature and logo.
Dress appropriately for such occasions and don't bring yourself down to a level that is unnecessary.

We were never told what to wear to seminary. I always wore t-shirts (not VH, not a rocker). I wasn't in UT though, so our teacher was happy that we showed up at that early hour. I think it might have been your teacher's hang up.

A Van Halen shirt is not appropiate to go to church, nor any band t-shirt. I think you know that. There is nothing against the goat.

Not a mormon but I think a goat head symbolises Paganism..
