other than believing Jesus Christ is the Son of God that died on a cross for my sins? I mean of course THIS is necessary; but if I continue to read on, will I find that there are OTHER things required of me, or is THIS IT?
I have a bible right before me. Is there ANYTHING else that I MUST do in order to have etenal life.
Opinions have their place; but I need "Word of God" in THIS matter.

his lady, So YOU'RE saying, "I DON'T have to "repent"? That sure sounds misleading.

kait,
Are you saying one can LOSE ones salvation (If so, then one has to DO somethings in order to NOT lose his/her salvation. Yes?)? A lot of people say NOT.

Yes -- you have to endure to the end.

Here is lesson #1, only 15 more to go...

What Does God Require of Us?

Lesson 1
How You Can Find Out What God Requires

What important information is contained in the Bible? (1)
Who is the Bible's author? (2)
Why should you study the Bible? (3)

1. The Bible is a precious gift from God. It is like a letter from a loving father to his children. It tells us the truth about God—who he is and what he stands for. It explains how to cope with problems and how to find true happiness. The Bible alone tells us what we must do to please God.—Psalm 1:1-3; Isaiah 48:17, 18.

2. The Bible was written by some 40 different men over a period of 1,600 years, beginning in 1513 B.C.E. It is made up of 66 little books. Those who wrote the Bible were inspired by God. They wrote his thoughts, not their own. So God in heaven, not any human on earth, is the Author of the Bible.—2 Timothy 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:20, 21.

3. God made sure that the Bible was accurately copied and preserved. More Bibles have been printed than any other book. Not everyone will be happy to see you studying the Bible, but do not let that stop you. Your eternal future depends on your getting to know God and doing his will despite any opposition.—Matthew 5:10-12; John 17:3.

The Apostle Paul showed us that not all forms of conduct and lifesyle are permissable with God. Even though our creator is forgiving and loving he still has standards that he wants us to live by. These standards are based on love of God and his righteousness and love for our neighbour. He said in 1 Corinthians 6:9 "What! Do you not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God's kingdom? DO NOT BE MISLED. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor exortioners will inherit God's Kingdom. And yet that's what some of you were. But you have been washed clean, but you have been sanctified, but you have been declared righteous in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God." So you see exercising faith in Christ is vital to salvation just as is living by God's righteous standards. Note that Paul said about some of the Christians back then "and yet this is what some of you were," past tense. They had repented and turned around. Also Romans 10:13 "For everyone who calls on the NAME OF GOD will be saved." Psalm 83:18 acknowledges that God's name is Jehovah (if his name isn't in your Bible please research other old Bibles or even the library or the preface of your bible and you will see that it is has been removed from many bibles even though it was originally in the ancient manuscripts.) I can refer you specifically to some sources if you would like. We must worship Jehovah as the only True God and accept Jesus Christ as our saviour and be obedient to all his teachings to be saved.

The first thing is... You will remember the story of John the Baptist. He said he came preaching repentance to prepare the way of the Lord. So first you must repent and turn from your sin and ask God to forgive your sin. Taking Christ as Lord and Savior me and he is your LORD. In other words you obey Him. God bless!!

You must repent of you sins.
True repentance is like the flip side of the coin of faith.
If you truly believe in your heart, you will begin to live a life of love towards God and man, and turn away from sin.
Remember all it takes to be alive is to be born.
All it takes to be saved is to be born again through faith in Jesus.
However there is a lot more to life than simply being born. Being born again is just the start.

You need to realize that you are a sinner, and are in need of a Savior. Accept Jesus as that Savior. That's all that is needed. If you are sincere, the Holy Spirit will guide you (for instance, leading you in the direction of being baptized, or forgiving others, even if it's difficult, etc). But, yes, belief in Jesus Christ is all that is necessary. All the other stuff is obedience to Him.

Asking Jesus into your heart saves you. John 3:15 (That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life). When you ask Him into your life you repent of your sins and choose to follow the example He set. You are not saved if you accept Him into your heart but then ignore His teachings and go around sinning like you always did.
You ask forgiveness, accept Him into your life and live for Him. It's not an easy thing to do.

John 17:3, This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ

2 Timothy 3:16-17, All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

Turn off your brain.

When shown the proof of the earth being millions of years old, you must say, "No, No you spawn of Satan, the bible says the earth is 5500 years old!"
If you see someone working on the sabbath, you must stone them saying "the bible told me to do this!"
You may only hire Christians and make life hell for non Christians.
You must do as you are told by the bible and the leaders of Christianity.
And if you ever doubt them, repent! for thou art a backslider!
Treat women as cattle and children as property, and non christians as even less than that.
And remember, you no longer need to think, ever again. You have a book to do all that for you. A lifeless collection of paper and ink which contradicts itself and from which people can pick and choose what they follow.
Yes... its so easy to be Christian. you never have to trouble yourself with questions!

You do not need anything to be saved. You were saved over 2,000 years ago when Jesus died on the Cross for you. No human can be saved by themselves or any of their actions, why else would we need a saviour? We can NOT save ourselves.

The best thing you can do is to continue to have faith and to show your faith in your works( as is stated in the Bible).
