I confess that I do, they are wrapped up so tightly in belief and faith and fear and ignorance. Reading their posts here, some chaps clearly have nothing else to 'love'. It's the dad in me, I guess. Sometimes I feel like giving a parental hug over cyberspace and saying, 'It's just a boo-boo, it'll hurt only a second or two.' I know this sounds wacko and that some of my fellow unbelievers are sharpening his or her tongue this very moment, but it's true, I honest to gosh feel that some Fundies are like little kids waiting for their turn at the dentist's chair--fear that an invisible being up there in the sky will be angered and slam shut heaven's door. What a shame, what a loss to miss the joy and galloping fun of life for a god that does not exist.

Constantly, they miss out on so much that humanity has discovered. In a way if they finally do see the light I feel jealous, knowing what they could eventually learn for the first time.

Yes I do feel some pity. I am pitiless against someone who has had all the benefit of education but joins a religion for some reason (like power over others maybe?) These deserve contempt.

Our educational system has been too influenced by religions historically, doesn't teach people how to think, doesn't teach about logical fallacies. Logic transcends the subject-matter. A fallacy and badly constructed argument is no more true if its subject is about God. This is a powerful weapon, but logical thinking is downplayed in our school system, and they also convey the impression that science is "just another subject" rather than a whole new way of thinking, our ONLY provable means to arrive at the nature of reality. In this the religious forces are joined by all those soft-headed humanities types who flunked out of science at a young age [this is disguised as "opting not to take further science courses" but it smells like a flunk to me!] Illogic ends up ruling our society.

I only feel pity for them when they have a serious situation in their life and they can't make a decision about it until God "tells" them what to do. They seem so helpless at that point.

Any other time, I really don't care what they believe or do as long as they don't try to shove it down my throat.

I only feel sorry for people who don't question anything to believe in god is fine but to have blind faith is sad. I'm sure a majority of them fit in that category but not all so I can't say that I do. I try not to generalize.

My journey on right here has been to ridicule the two aspects of the table, Christian and Atheism, so talk approximately vast headed!! yet heavily, I understand the Christian attitude of haing faith, rules, and spirituality, and additionally admire the atheistic attitude that faith has mixed too lots with Politics. After examining and reading the form (owing to a revival by ability of Ron Paul), i found out that the main needed genuine we've as human beings is to uphold our freedom of speech besides as freedom of religion. and what's exciting is that the 10th modification, which I by no ability examine in the previous, states that any potential no longer delegated to the government is reserved to the state and the individuals. the each and every physique is secular, composed of persons, people who embody recommendations. So the genuine potential belongs to the belief. And we do have the potential, however the project is, in that distant places affairs, and conflict, we could desire to admit that the final public of the each and every physique is Christians, and that at present the federal government is backed by ability of the belief of Christianity. in spite of the undeniable fact that, many each and every physique is waking as much as the absurdity of Christianity, from a political, ideological, or theological attitude. So i think of the substantial element is that Christians could desire to understand that as quickly as an atheist calls their god a "sky daddy" it is going a ways previous basic theology to a downright conviction that their ideals are literally destroying the fabric of the rustic. besides, i think of atheists could desire to view themselves as inquiring and in contact electorate truly than create a theological flame conflict with no end in sight. even inspite of the incontrovertible fact that this section is faith/spirituality, i think of this is of course previous this to the very essence of each and every human beings.

I'm annoyed that so many seemingly intelligent people are so wrapped up in this mythology that they can't see how foolish and superstitious it is.
I'm also annoyed that so few people bother to learn even fundamentals about science. It makes us a laughing stock to people around the world.

Why come to a religion and spirituality section then pose this type of question? Go to http://groups.msn.com/askanatheist... and talk with other atheists rather than attacking people who have a genuine curiosity for this subject.
