First off, you have no proof of God existing at all. Secondly, aside from a book written by supposed prophets and mad men, you have no proof of Jesus existing at all, just speculation. And notice something else, you keep saying maybe, but you have no proof, science has proof. If you want to believe in something then don't keep saying there is proof and have nothing to back it up. I bet some people on here will not read any of the things that we, who question the world, write because they don't want to be tempted. So what is temptation huh. If you really have faith then you will realize that we are right to, at the very least, a point. No person is asking you to abandon your religion, just realize that not everything about it can be true. You seem like the type of person who refused to watch the De vinci code because it was "blasphemous." It was a good movie whether you look at the religious aspects or not. You can still worship God, and go to church just know that there maybe something else, because if you are trully smart, you will realize that although you have been told something since birht, it is not always right, look at the world, it isn't flat right, we aren't the center of the universe right? Well, God may not exist right, there may be no God or God's right, Jediism could be the right religion, or Judaism, or Islam. I am not rulling anything but i am not going to worry for my soul every waking minute of the day.

Why do you believe the God-Eating Zombie-Monster, the Cosmic God-Swiffer and the Troubled Cosmic Teenager who Keeps It All Inside Until One Day He Snaps and Buys a Gun and Shoots Up God don't exist?
Since they DO exist, how can a God survive in such a universe?
Viewed without the "benefit" of being brainwashed every day as a child, the Christian story is silly once paraphrased:
A Perfect God with full knowledge and foresight made an Imperfect creation with sin and suffering, the only solution being NOT direct action (since human Free Will is some kind of force-field or something) but God cuts off a piece of himself, calls it his Son, and then sends it down in a pathetic piece of street-theater to go get killed for the amusement of some Romans and Jews. So he sacrifices himself to himself, this reflexive act then changing nothing in the universe which goes on as before. Sounds pretty silly, doesn't it?
If there are problems in the world, why doesn't God just wave his hand and solve it? Make us all good? Is God somehow limited and powerless in some way? Whoa! Forget this mental short-circuitry, it is more likely that there IS no God.

Passing off baseless assertions and personal opinions as proof of even more baseless assertions and personal opinions is not a good method for argument. I really wish you folks would realize this. Perhaps what's in order is an objective study on your opponent, the Atheists. An objective study of biology sounds like it's in order, as well.
Either that, or just admit to yourself that you don't wish to understand other's viewpoints, and believe whatever you want to.

One of the biggest reasons to deny the existence of a Supreme Being is that doing so allows us to be accountable to no one but ourselves. In the absence of such a Being, the only standards are set by society itself. It's far easier for us to live up to the lowly standards we set for ourselves than to constantly strive to meet the perfect ideals set forth by religion---and therefore when we fall short of those standards, there is no fear of consequences other than those imposed on us by man.
That being said, it seems incredibly illogical to me to say that there is no "God". My education is scientifically- and mathematically-oriented, and when I look around at the universe and see its indescribable complexity, it's absurd to think that it just happened to occur on its own.
However, the exact nature of God is exponentially more difficult to determine. How can we be certain of which faith, if any, is the "true" faith? That question gets very complicated very quickly.
The bottom line is that some entity had to create something from nothing at some point in time; that is an unavoidable fact. Even if the Big Bang theory is correct, something had to create the original particles, as well as the beautiful laws of physics. Denying the existence of some sort of Creator is pure folly, in my opinion.

Mel: As a Christian myself, I have found that the "uncalled" or the "non-elect" can only relate to the transitory, materialistic world; therefore, any spark of "De vine" inspiration to reveal to them the existence of a God is met with scoffing and dismissal. Remember; God, the Father, has to "draw" people to Him for them to have the "where with" to comprehend spiritual things. (see: Book of John, chapter 6, verse 44). Those, who are drawn to God are called the "elect". Hope this does your question "justice".

You know all that stuff you just wrote that's supposed to "prove" there's a god? It doesn't.
That thing about Jesus? Never happened. Jesus wasn't the first savior born of a virgin, crucified and resurrected. Know why? Because that was a common myth at the time, so all god-men fit that description. Jesus wasn't even the first!
I read the christian bible. I learned about the history of christianity. I learned about its pagan roots. There is not one shred of evidence that your god is any more real than Zeus. You don't believe in Zeus, do you? If not, you should have no problem understanding why I don't believe in your god.

but you have no proof that he exists. you are just naming of things you have read and how you feel about the subject, but you have no proof. without proof, you cant expect 100% of the population to believe. I dont know whether there is a god or not. I refuse to say there is or isnt without solid proof. I do however know that God is not as perfect as you think. if he didnt not want to see us suffer he wouldnt have made it possible for us to do so.
for your information, if if God created people as you say he did, he created us with the ability to suffer. and how do you know he didnt intend for us to suffer? because the bible that God did not write himself say so? thats not proof sweetheart. and why did Adam and Eve sin? becuase God gives us free will and punishes us when we dont do what he really wants us to do? God decided what is sin and what isnt. if he did not do so there would be no sinning. and he created us with the ability to sin. for example...people have sexual desires while they are teenagers, yet sex before marriage is a sin. why do we have these desires if we cannot act on them? and if you choose to answer do so without quoting from your fictional bible.
oh and by the way, if your such a wonderful, God loving person then what the heck are you doing posting a pic of yourself in a bikini on yahoo answers and asking if people thinki your pretty? even I wouldnt go there....I have morals thank you

This is hilarious. It should be on that website Fundies say the darndest things. This is gold.LOL
Melanie dear. Do us a favor. Before you go out and ask questions like this read about other religions. You seem like the only one you know is chrsitianity. While I can't fully say that there is no god I can say that the one from your religion doesn't exist. There is more to religion that jesus or hell. Go read up on Islam, Bahaism, Buddhism,Taoism,Judaism(the religions christianity hijacked and paganized) and others. Also read up on different philosophies. Only then can you make an accurate decision on what you want to believe. This rant only proved that you are brainwashed and very sheltered from the world. Please don't take this as me being rude, but I just want you to go study up before making these type of posts.

How can anyone believe in a God that would condemn anyone to eternal torment because of their *beliefs?* How can anyone believe in a God that would send His only son to die an excrutiatingly painful death on the cross? They tell me that some Christians believe such nonsense!

one looks for evidence for the existence of god(s). not finding it, one comes to believe that god(s) do not exist. it's that simple.
i suppose the argument would go that i didn't look hard enough, or looked in the wrong places, or ignored good evidence for some selfish reason. however, i don't believe i've done any of those things.
