Alright, here is my issue~ I weighed approx. 150-155 about 2 years ago. I gained a little weight, and then I got pregnant, and gained about 60-65lbs. on top of that. That puts me at around 230 right now. I have never been overweight, and have always been active. I had to have a c-section with my son, so I was not able to be very active(or barely move), for about 2-3 months after he was born. Well I'm starting to feel the effects of the weight gain. I can't tell when I'm full. I barely feel hungry. My son is 10 months old, and I eat maybe 1x a day. I haven't breastfed since my son was 3 1/2 months old. I need to lose at least 50lbs.
Since the weight gain, i've had a lot of insecurity issues. I don't really go out much because i am too upset about how I look. I can't do certain work outs. I have shoulder problems which restrain me from doing a lot of arm workouts. I do sit ups, but they don't seem to be working anymore! I walk a lot now, but thats not doing anything either. HELP!

BTW I'm 20, 5'11", now approx 230 lbs., and my legs are muscular, which i need to get rid of too and make them more slim. My boobs also took up a decent amount of weight gain(They went up 2 full cup sizes!).

I, honestly, don't want more muscle. I've always been muscle... not overly done, but not perfectly toned. I want to slim all over.
I AM working on eating small meals, but its hard w/my son! Its hard to explain, but it just is...

Its VERY hard for me to eat lately. The 1 meal that I did eat today, I ate 1/2 of it, and was full. I just don't feel hungry anymore. And on top of that, I'm a horrible shopper, and I cannot seem to get a shopping list together that will keep me on a straight diet.

Ok, I think should add just incase~ i drink A LOT of the lipton cold serve iced tea w/Sweet N Low. But I doubt that would have anything to do w/it.

Well, breastfeeding for 12 months took 60 lbs off of my body even with eating a lot! It may be too late to re-start that now though.

I would suggest starting out with water aerobics at the local YMCA. Most of the people have arthritis, and even if you have joint pain you can do this. Follow it up with a walk every day.

You should check your thyroid to make sure your hormones aren't causing the weight problem. Check with your doctor for the blood tests!!!

Finally, eat several small meals a day
Bfast: egg beater omelet
snack: light sugar and fat free yogurt
lunch: salad with tuna or chicken on it, fat free dressing
fruit, skim milk
snack: adkins bar, celery
dinner: lean meat 4 oz, salad, fruit, skim milk, sugar free jello

Make sure you eat at least 1000 calories per day, but no more than 1500.

Do some heavy cardio, and EAT MORE!!!

Start running, if you can, or use an elliptical machine / run up and down stairs. Do this for at least half an hour at a time, at least every other day, preferably more often. If you do your crunches / situps immediately following your cardio workout, it will be more efficient at burning the belly fat.

I'm serious about eating more. If you are eating significantly less than you should, your body will go into starvation mode, and it will actually burn less fat, and even begin to store it. You may gain a small amount more, at first, but then you will start to lose more. At your size, you've got to expect also that you will have a few plateau points while you're losing weight, while you build more muscle, but you will get past them.

Oh, and by the way, much as I myself would also like to claim that breast tissue was a significant portion of my weight gain when I did, it's not the case. It is all relatively light, fatty tissue, and even 2 full cup sizes will only add a few pounds.
There is nothing healthy you can do for now to make your legs less muscular, BUT after you've lost a bit of weight, your normal activity will be less of a workout on your legs, and therefore less of a buildup for them. They will gradually get smaller, as long as you don't do a lot of heavy weighted leg exercises.

Good luck.

I'm no health expert, nor am I an expert on working out. But I know a little bit. My brother is a personal fitness trainer. First off, make sure you are managing your diet. You need to eat foods that give you energy, mainly a healthy breakfast and though it seems like a lot make sure you are eating three meals a day but nothing huge. And -no- snacks! Unless it is an apple, or other fruits or vegtables that are good for you and do not hinder your process. Secondly you need to make sure you are working on your cardio. This burns fat and calories the quickest. The faster your heart pumps and the more you sweat the better. If you are walking try kicking it up to running, or use a biking machine to get your heart moving. Also if you have trouble doing certian arm exercises then try swimming to improve strength. Swimming is theraputic on so many levels and it can help a lot with improving arm strength. Aerobics (sp) works really well. You gotta start with the basic things and slowly work your way up to doing more. And make sure you aren't just doing one work out a week. You need to do this on a daily basis to hope to see any progress. Even just thirty minutes a day can make a HUGE improvement. Also try visiting nutritional websites that can give you the proper information to help speed you on your way. Congradulations on your baby and good luck!

If you want to get slimmer legs. Pilates is the way to go, it elongates the muscle to give them a leaner more firm look. Also if your a pasta addict, cut the carbs! Starch is your enemy in this case, it pacts on the pounds even though you may not realize.

First thing is to change your eating habits. You HAVE to eat more than once a day. Try to eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day but small portions. Whatever you do, try not to eat late at night. Also, drink plenty of water.

Exercise 4-5 times a week. Start out walking 30 minutes each day and then take it to a jog. You want to try to get yourself doing at least 45 minutes of cardio. Also do some light weight training 3 days a week.

The main thing is to progress at your own pace. Don't try to over do it the first week. Also try not to get discouraged because this is not something that will happen in a week. Once you get into the routine, it will become part of your life. Have faith in yourself!

Eat more than one meal a day. Eat every two hours, and only something little. Cut out sodas, fast food, add 64 oz. of water spread out during the day. That truly, truly helps.
