The dollar store test units are often made by the same company that made the expensive one at the pharmacy. Not as fancy a wrapper, not as fancy a plastic holder, maybe a cheaply printed set of instructions. But the test strip, which is what counts, would be the same one in the expensive kits, testing for the same hormones.
Keep in mind that 60 minutes showed us that one company that makes a common anti-biotic, produces 23 different brands of the drug, ranging in price from 10 cents a pill Generic to 2.30 a pill name brand. They all came out of the same machine, at the same time. One machine spewing out millions of pills being fed to 23 different lines that colored or coated or printed different things on them. A 10 cent pill that cost 2.30 because it had a fancy box with a pretty color on the pill, but the pill inside was still the 10 cent one.

I've taken the following test; EPT, Clear Blue Easy, CVS Brand, Walgreens Brand, Walmart Brand, Dollar Tree Brand, etc..
The test from the DOLLAR tree, which came up to $1.07 was the ONLY test to give me an accurate result! You get what you pay for, but sometimes you're ONLY paying for a name!
I recommend you go to your OB/primary care physician if you think the test is accurate. In the long run, it'll be cheaper and more accurate! Good Luck!

my first pregnancy I used an Answer pregnancy test and it worked fine, this time when i got pregnant i used the dollar store test and it worked great as well. When my sister got pregnant when she was 17 she used a dollar store test and it worked good for her too. So i think they are just as good as any other brand just make sure it's not expired.

As far as I know, tests are pretty much the same as long as stored properly and not expired. The dollarstore kind have to be done AFTER you have at least reached the day you were supposed to get your period. I've never seen the early predicting kind at the dollarstore.

I took some and they came up negative. The next day I took another test (a name brand) and got postive results. I have heard that others had good experiences with them. Perhaps they just aren't as sensitive.

I wouldn't imagine there would be a huge difference. It might take a little longer to detect the hormones. When taking a pregnancy test you need to wait till you have missed your period. Also test in the morning, that's when your urine has the most hormones.

A nurse at the health department here told me that they are almost the same thing that they use there. I have had a positive test at four weeks with one.
