I'm just curious about this one. What about when they're older and not in a crib anymore? What if they get into stuff around the house?

when my son was that age I would put him in his walker with the locks on and brought him in the bathroom with me. I would put a couple of toys on the tray of the walker to play with...Plus i would play peek a boo peeping my head out of the shower curtain......it was just another play time for him and I would have a great shower.

Sorry I am not answering this one, just making a comment. Where was this site when I had my son????? I had the hardest time figuring out what to do back then! Especially since we had a house that the bathroom was tiny (no room for a walker), there was no tub, only a shower, and no doors on any of the other rooms! Playpens and cribs are good at this age, but then they turn two and learn how to climb out. And how to make the gate come off the door, and everything else. That was the one time I actually liked it that my ex-mother-in-law was so nosy: she came over every day! But its comforting to know you aren't the only mom with the same questions!

A 1 year old should be in a crib still. If you don't have a crib then get a playpen and put the toddler in that while you take a shower.

I took baths early in the morning when kids were still asleep. I preferred baths over showers so I could hear any noise going on in the house. I never did hear anything since the kids stayed sleeping. I can't hear anything when my head is under a shower so I avoided that for a few years. When they were all school aged, I took showers in the morning again.

one is not a good age at all to leave a child alone any where just make sure your house is baby proof and try to schedule showers for in the morning when your baby is not still sleeping or at night when your baby falls asleep i have a house full of six kids right now make time you would be very suprised what a child will do unsupervised and you probablly cant even imagine what a child will get in to.

I do one of three things
1) wait until my husband is home and take a shower while he can play with my DD
2) wait until she is asleep to take it.
3) many times I just take her in there with me, she loves playing in the water and hanging out with mommy. I rinse off away from her so I don't get soap in her eyes and after I am done I bath her and fill up the tub so she can keep on playing.

My daughter is 12 months and I put her in her crib. I can see her from the shower. Or, I wait until she's asleep and use the other bathroom. We also have a pack 'n' play we put her in.

I set up an exersaucer in the bathroom. Throw a couple of cheerios on the tray and you're good for about 10 mins : )

Take him in with you (to the bathroom not the shower - you don't want soap in his eyes) and lock the door - then move fast - you're probably used to it!
If not run a shallow *warm* bath and you can have him in there with you.
That is if you *must* shower when there is no one else in the house.
Best wishes (and showers),
Joan.
