If you were approved and they sent you one. You should still call them as it will be floating around on the books and when you go to get a loan it will count as a credit card on the books you have to many open. I would suggest calling them saying you want it off the records and you want a letter of confirmation that way you know it will be done rather than some rep saying okay and hanging up going to the next call as they have time lines.

Does not matter, it just means that nobody can use that card until it is activated but the account will be open. Sometimes credit cards are on your credit way before you get them, so it does not matter if it is activated or not. Call them up and ask, they will tell you the same thing I promise.

If you have signed the application and they have given you the credit card, then no. They might "hot card" it. Meaning they might block it thinking that it has been lost or stolen. But they wouldn't close they account. Think about it like this, why would a financial institution want to close an account that could potentially make them money. They want you to one day use it and charge you interest. But you might want to look into the fee schedule, there might be inactivity fees for not using your card. Good Luck!

Even if you don't activate the card, if you fail to contact the creditor and close the account the creditor will consider it an open/active account.

If the card comes with fees and you fail to contact the creditor to close the account, you will be held liable for paying the fees, whether you activate the card or not

you never opened the account so they don't have to close it. If they already sent you the card then cut it up into little pieces to make sure no one can use it. If you never activate it then its pretty much like it doesnt' exist!! hope i helped! it happens to me ALL the time!
