I'm asking what the LDS Church believes.

Thanks everyone for your input. There does not seem to be much consensus but I think I'm getting an idea.

Nope, but sadly other Christians believe that we will; you know, our bashers and haters, etc...
We believe that our Heavenly Father loves us all (Mormons or Not) and Duhhh, we know that there are excellent people with great faith that are not Mormons. We love and respect each other and we do respect others believes and do not bash them.
We believe that God is our Heavenly Father, that Jesus is his son, our brother that died in the cross for us and thanks to him we can be saved. We all have a purpose in life and we worship our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus. We do read the Bible and the Book of Mormon. We are a church, not a cult as many people love to call us. We are Christians because we believe in Christ, worship him and have faith in him. We are not a cult because we do not worship man, we do not worship anyone but God and Jesus.

Hope this helps!!! ^_^

No. Mormons actually don't even believe that all non-Christians go to hell. Unlike most other branches of Christianity, they don't simply believe there is a wonderful place called heaven and an eternal torture chamber called hell, and that basically Christians go to heaven and all non-Christians (anyone who didn't accept Jesus as their savior) goes to hell. Their view of the afterlife is way more complex. They believe people wait in a spirit world in between death and the resurrection, and everyone will get a chance to hear the gospel there. Then there are three different levels of heaven which the vast majority of people will go. Eternal hell, which they call outer darkness, is only reserved for the devil and possibly a very few extremely evil people who never repented in any way, shape, or form.

I am not a Mormon but I did try to find an answer from a Mormon. It appears that they believe you have to be repentant, baptized and have hands laid on you by a person in authority to be allowed into Heaven. Of course, this is not unique to Mormons. Many religions believe that their religion is the only chance to get into Heaven. I hear this from far more Born Again Christians than Mormons. Then again, maybe the Christians are just more concerned about me.

"Latter-day Saints believe that those who do not receive remission of sins through repentance and obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel of Jesus Christ must go to Hell to be cleansed from their sins. After being cleansed from their sins, disobedient spirits will be released from Hell into a degree of glory that is based upon the type of character they developed in mortality."
"The gospel of Jesus Christ comprises fundamental principles and ordinances that must be followed to obtain a fulness of salvation. The first steps are faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, and the laying on of hands by one who is in authority for the gift of the Holy Ghost. Additional ordinances are administered in the temple. And finally, "he only is saved who endureth unto the end"

No...they just wont go to the highest level (the celestial kingdom) because you have to be a mormon to go to the temple. You need to go to the temple to perform certain ceremonies and such, and if you dont do those ceremonies, you arent worthy of the highest level of heaven. There's 2 lower levels that people go to though, where you dont need to have done these temple ceremonies. They believe that the only people who go to hell are the ones who, with a confirmed knowledge of the truth of the gospel, deny god, christ and the holy spirit.

Hope this helped!

Good question. This was something I had to have cleared up before I joined the church.

No, we do not believe that other Christians will go to hell. From what I understand, most will go to the Terrestrial Kingdom, where Christ reigns.

Read the 76th section of the D&C.

No. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints do not believe that anyone else will go to hell simply because they are not of the faith.

At least the ones I know don't believe that.

No. For one thing it is not our place to judge, so this is not a definate answer of where EXACTLY other christians will go, because in the end God decides. People who go to hell are people who deny Christ and all that he stands for. Hell is for people who are truly and thoroughly wicked in their hearts. Fellow Christians are not like that, because I know they at least believe in Christ. Remember, we mormons also believe in other heavens. Not just the main heaven and hell.

They believe other Christians will be saved if they keep the commandments, but that it would be preferable, so to speak, if they belonged to the LDS.

So I don't know what is their urgency in converting people.

That's a question that will get mixed answers. On one hand, the quick answer is yes. However, the caveat is that when they die, they will be in "Spirit Prison' where they'll have the chance to convert to mormonism. If they don't convert there, they will go to hell.
