A quick check of the internet can give you a list of dog sites that rescue certain kinds of dogs/cats, etc. As with any pure breed, they can get pretty pricey.
There are plenty of dogs for less than $100 in your local dog shelter. I got my chihuahua and beagle there (both pure breeds) for less than $75.00 each, and paid only $25.00 more for "fixing" them and getting the implant in case they get lost or stolen.

I would check www.petfinder.com. This will list rescue golden retrievers and golden retriever mixes in your area. The cost is minimal if you adopt from a shelter, and you can really get GREAT dogs at shelters, even purebreds!
Shelters will usually require you to fill out an application and pay an adoption fee in order to keep the shelter running. It is worth it though, because you are saving a life. You know it, but more importantly, the dog knows it, and it will repay your kindness with love 100 times over.

A Golden can cost $400 and above from breeders. But you can also get a very good dog from a Golden Retriever Rescue organization. They will try to match you to the best dog for your situation, and the cost is minimal.

Goldens from reputable breeders cost roughly between $800 to $1000.Not bad considering how much pet shops charge for designer mongrels. You should ask the breeder to see both parents' hip &elbow scores,Eye Certificate and Heart check.Contact the Golden Retriever Club of NSW and they will advise you as well.Look at the web site www.dogsonline.com.au , at the moment there is 37 litters to choose from. Hope this helps you meet the love of your life.

well, you can always get them from breeders which you can find online or you could adopt one from a golden retriever rescue. i'm big on adopting from shelters and always recommend it first. Many people think that it's only adult dogs but they quite often have puppies and younger animals that need homes. you can find a golden rescue online and i hope you consider adopting. it is not only giving the dog another chance but it will most likely cost less money than buying from a breeder.good luck in your search for an addition to your family.

I agree with those who say check out a rescue group. MY friend got a Collie from a Collie rescue group.
Be VERY careful with breeders. A friend got a Golden from a Breeder in my area who was supposed to be good, and had a nice looking set up. Only later (and after learning her sweet dog had a heart problem which would lead to her death in just a few years) did she learn that dog trainers in the area knew the breeder for selling sick dogs.

you can purchase one for $250 and up from a newspaper. As they are a very common breed that everyone has. You could also adopt one from an animal shelter or from a retiever rescue.
