I live in California, we are thinking of adopting an 8 week old dachshund who has had her first shots. I want to crate train her. Can I take her outside to go potty or do I need to have her go potty on newspaper or a potty pad until she is a certain age or has all shots?

No, she can go outside. Just keep her to one area in your yard. Don't expose her to walks or other dog yards until she is finished with her vaccine series. She won't be completely protected until then.

You can take her out to potty. Just dont take her to Petsmart or anywhere around other dogs. When you take her to the vet keep her in a crate and don't let anyone touch her ( they can transfer germs from other dogs) and don't let any dogs around her. Just till she has all her shots.

we have dash hound at my house and we always take ours out side to potty even if they haven't had all their shots yet..its fine..just be care full of where it goes and what it gets into..They are very easy to potty train ours whine at the door when they need to go i think you will enjoy this dog they are wonderfull very well tempered and wonderfull house pets

Take her outside and crate train her. The shots have nothing to do with it. You'll have her on a leash and nothing will attack her with you around.

you should get shots first
The best thing a dog owner can do is buy 3 books one
1) on vet med
2) on training
3) on the breed you have
This is your best help.
You will get a lot of wrong answers here-but some are good
