Well, it's not true that you can't give a cat human medication. In fact, some of the medications a vet prescribes for a cat are originally intended as pediatric human. Pediatric Benadryl is OK in very small doses but I would prefer a vet tell you the exact dosage to use. And, if it is appropriate to use at all. Barring that, I'd start with a quarter of an infant dose, especially if your cat is small. You'll need a medicating syringe from the pet store for measuring and giving the dosage if it's a liquid.
Another thing that can help if your cat is stuffy. There is an over the counter device called Gentle Vapors. You plug it in and slip in a little card impregnated with oils like menthol - I think a couple come with it but you can buy them separately. It releases vapors that help kitties breathe easier. I use it in the bathroom so it doesn't have as much space to fill and you can turn the shower on hot for the steam. That can help, too.
I put a pillow or folded towel on the floor in the bathroom and the cat can sleep on that.

I never found that it lasts much longer than 3-4 hours, even though it says 8. And, it does have a nightlight, but I don't think my cat cared about that!
Good luck.

In Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook, there are doses of benadryl (also known as diphenhydramine) for cats. I won't list the doses since if you feel you need to use the drug, you should speak with your veterinarian. But yes, it is a drug that can be used with cats.

Yes,a quarter of a childs dose,or you can give Chlortrimeton,1/2 of a 2 mg.tablet once or twice a day.Make sure you don't buy the kind that has a decongestant or acetominophen in it;these drugs can kill your cat.

I give my cat benadryl for his allergies. You cannot use the liquid or capsule form, you have to use tablets. You can buy children's benadryl tablets and give half a tablet but no more or you can overdose
