I have a GeForce 256MB AGP 7600 GS card. Of course, it originally comes with a DirectX 9.0c. However, I was wondering, will this card be compatible with DirectX 10? Also, what about Windows XP SP2 and some of my games, such as FIFA 07? will those be affected?

Thanks.

None of GF7 have hardware support for DX10 even if you install Windows Vista.

Try to make the difference between hardware capabilities (which are limited to DX9 in your case) and the software that manage this capabilities.
In other words you ask what is happen if you install DX10 with a card that maximum know DX9.

There is an unofficial DirectX 10 that is not working perfect on Windows XP SP2 and never will work.

I highly recommend to install Windows XP SP2 instead of everything old.

XP will not support DirectX 10 and only the nVidia 8 series video cards support DirectX 10.

Some games, such as Crysis [not released yet] will require DX 10, but others will work with 9.0c or with 10.

So if you get an 8 series nVidia card and get Vista and run a 9.0c game, it will work. But if a game requires Dx 10, and you don't have Dx 10, no go, as you know.

Your video card will not support DirectX 10.

XP SP2 has most of the bugs worked out in it by now. Give it a shot, if it causes issues...you can uninstall the service pack.

no only nvidia 8 series cards are dx10 supported. u will have to upgrade if u want to play dx10 games. dx10 only works in vista, so if u have xp it wont work, it will act like a dx9 card
