Lock them up forever or try to rehabilitate them?

Since pedophiles have a 98% recidivism rate, and are impossible to rehabilitate, life without parole would be the only option I would consider.

I know it sounds harsh, but they take the innocence of our children and ruin their lives.

There is no rehabilitating pedophiles and many that have been interviewed have stated exactly that on the record. Jessica's Law carries a mandatory 15-25 year sentence for first offenses, eliminates good behavior credits to reduce their sentence, requires lifetime monitoring once released, and not allowed within 2000 ft of areas frequented by children. Is it on the books in all states? No. Should it be? Yes. Is it enough? Hell no. I personally don't believe that the offender should be allowed to live on the taxpayers dime. That time in prison will never be a debt repayed to a victim who is now messed up FOR LIFE. I am a strong supporter of the dealth penalty for the ultimate scum in our society that would harm children in this manner.

Place an electronic micro-chip IN them & monitor them on a daily basis. Mandatory counciling & check-ins. Monthly id photos & address verifications. Adults only buildings with 24 hour survelliance cameras, no doors or windows to the street level, & no overnight guests allowed in their rooms. All guests must show valid state identification & sign in before & after each visit to a registered offender! There is always a trail of bread-crumbs that will lead back to an associate of a known offender! This way, everyone has a chance at remaining "safe" from predators. Not ALL past offenders will stray & this makes them "targets" also! They need surveillance for many reasons, ya know!

Pedophiles are Definitely sick in the mind, and won't resist their urge to prey on young girls/boys. It seems like the current punishments are not doing the trick, and repeat offenders don't learn their lesson. The sex offender registry is a good start, but not nearly good enough. The registry should be advertised more, and offenders should not be allowed anywhere near children. Furthermore, offenders need harsher punishment. Time in prison, and monetary punishment should be increased.

I heard of a proposal to make repeat offenders have "sex offender" license plates on their cars and drivers licenses, but it didn't succeed.

In short, stricter punishment, more jail time, more fines, more publication of the offenders' crime.

If it were possible, I'd say LOCK THEM UP FOREVER. I don't know that rehabilitation is possible.

Well, it would be nice if we could prevent the first offense from happening.
But since that does not seem possible at this moment in time I think we should make it mandatory that any pedophile whom the psychiatrist deems as posing an ongoing threat to our children should be forced to spend the remainder of their days in a mental hospital.
Since they all want to cry about how it is a sickness then I say we treat it as such.
Mentally unstable individuals need to be lockedup for their protection as well as our own.
I know of a pedophile who used to live in a house that belonged to his parents and then after he molested the neighbor girl (7 yrs. old) he went to prison for 3 yrs.
He got out of prison and thought he would just move back into the house that his parents owned, and he did, for a day.
That same evening while the sick S.O.B. slept his parents house mysteriously burnt to the ground.
Justice at it's finest!!!
The pedophile's name is Joseph Gallardo from Everett Wa.
Public info is great!

I don't think rehabilitation works for pedophiles. Somehow I think their urge for children are so deep rooted within themselves they cannot stop. So, I feel that sending them to prison is best. That way they cannot harm and victimize more children in our communities.

Also, if you think about it, if a pedophile is sent for rehab, what does that say to their young victims? The victims receive no justice but try to deal with their trauma!

Taxpayers support them if they are locked up so thats out of the question. They will never rehabilitate so thats out of the question. There crime was severe enough, I say the only possible punishment is execution. I sure no one will miss pedophiles and execution fits this awful crime.
