do i have to feed my guinea pigs always at the same time every day. i was just thinking they might get upset/stressed if on weekdays they get food at 6:00 or 7:00 and on weekends they might not get it til 9:00?????
will they get stressed if the feeding time evryday may be different???????

because i'm at school during the day i've already been told by "Justified" to feed half the needed food in the morning and half at night...would there be a difference in feeding from 4:00 to 8:30 ???????

No, a few hours isn't going to matter. If they are used to a schedule, like mine are, they will start wheeking when it is about time for food. My wheek to wake me up in the morning b.c they want their veggies. They also wheek at night when I go to bed b/c that's when they get veggies too. As long as they are getting a cup of veggies a day, it's fine. They should have pellets and hay in their cages at all times.

Addition: I prefer to give half of their food in the morning and half at night. That way the veggies will not ruin throughout the day. I'm sure that's the reasoning for Justified's advice and I totally agree. But your pigs aren't able to tell time so an hour or two isn't going to matter. When I go out at night, my pigs get their food when I get home instead of the usual 9-10:00 feeding time. They are fine. You can set the schedule at what you need it to be. Be as consistant as you can, but don't stress over this issue too much.

Guinea pigs do like to be fed at the same time every day, but they actually should be fed in the morning, not in the evening. You may give them a 'snack' in the evening if their squeaking because they want attention or are hungry bothers you while you are trying to sleep, but otherwise, switch to feeding them in the morning, and they'll be much happier 'piggies' ...

A couple of hours won't make a difference, but it will be stressful if sometimes they get fed at night and sometimes in the morning. Always leave plenty of grass hay, like timothy, in the cage and you won't need to worry.

I have Guinea Pigs & I just re-fill their food bowl when all the food runs out. They won't get stressed if you do this!

I used to breed guinea pigs and they never got sterssed about getting fed at different times. As long as they get food every day they should be fine.

guinea pigs don't care when they eat, you could feed them any time you feel like! just as long as you feed them in the morning when you do feed them it should be fine.

It really does not matter when you feed them. As long as they get fed. Mine know whenever the food bag moves, they are getting food. Its actually pretty cute.

just keep some food in there for them to chew on. They love veggies. I am sure they would like to have a regular schedule.
