Take the off peak local to Manhattan. Off peak starts at 10 a.m. after the rush hour. It's less crowded and you save about $3.00. Once there, climb the stairs and you're at MSG. If you get lost ask a police officer or the information center booth in the waiting lobby.

You take the train to Penn Station out of Babylon...you can either get an express or a local and you want to buy the ticket at the station, NOT ON THE TRAIN. Westbound trains are usually going to be on the track farthest away from Montauk Highway.

Once you're in the city, follow the signs for the garden...you don't even have to walk outside, just up a few flights of stairs. You can also ask any of the cops in Penn station to point you in the right direction and they'll be happy to do it!

The only train there is, the LIRR from that station.

And Madison Square Garden is directly above Penn Station. Theres plenty of signs there directing you to the entrance to it.

The train is faster. You can take either NJ Transit's Pascack Valley or Port Jervis/Bergen-Main Line form Rockland County to Secaucus Junction where a connection can be made to any eastbound Main Line NJ Transit train to Penn Station NY. The one way fare will cost you between $15 and $20 each way. The trip take between 1 to 2 hours. I hope this information is very helpful Good luck Native New Yorker
