The steps to repentance are:
Recognise you've done wrong
Feel sorrow
Admit to God
Make reconciliation
Turn away from the sin and do all we can to never do it again
I understand what you are saying. The thing you have to remember is that Satan wants you to feel your absolute worst about it, specifically during the process. He wants you to beat yourself up over it, so much that you think you don't deserve to be forgiven, regardless of the transgression. God wants you to drop the sin from your shoulders and turn away from it. Just like holding a glass of water, over time it will break us and hurt us permanently. Not repenting is a physical burden.

By understanding that it is a process and God does not loathe you.
For process, I mean it is like learning to ride a bike. You may fall down 10 times until you can finally stay up on the bike. Are you going to loathe yourself for falling 10 times? Or are you going to recognize the success now?
If you know it is wrong now...that is success, not failure.

If you "loathe yourself" there is something wrong with you and you need to see a therapist.
When you admit wrong and guilt before God you are actually talking to yourself, as the personal god-confessor is make-believe.

admitting guilt and wrong before God?
I dont think the word 'admitting' is the word youre looking for..
its more or less: feeling sorry for what youve done and repenting. this is no more different than wanting to undo the wrong youve done when you break someones heart.
(not that am comparing breaking a heart to breaking Gods orders ofcourse but you get the point)
you cant admitt something to someone who already knows :)

By admitting wrong and guilt and by being forgiven it is our job to realize we made a mistake and move on. He has. Don't you loathe yourself even more if you don't ask for forgiveness? never loathe your self for mistakes, only mistakes unmended.

If we prove ourselves loathsome, what's wrong with loathing ourselves?
True self worth comes through faith in the Gospel.
When we realize that even though we are so inclined to petty selfishness and the basest things, yet God the Father esteemed us so precious that He was willing to send His Son, His equal and the co-Creator of the universe to suffer in our stead.
The songwriter put it this way:
"Long lay the world, in sin and sadness pining,
'til He appeared and the soul felt it's worth."
When we begin to realize God's assessment of our worth, and accept His testimony that we were made in his image and likeness, then hope arises and we put off our vileness and begin to live like children of God.

We could desire to forgive others, so as that God will forgive us our mis-doings. As for us forgiving ourselves of a incorrect doing...provide it to God and permit Him heal you from the interior out. All issues previous away, all issues exchange into new whilst Our Lord forgives you. So if that's genuine...the incorrect is now no longer hung on you. this is washed away. After He forgives us, He says "circulate and sin not greater." God is the only one that can forgive. Jesus became sacrificed for our sins...circulate and sin not greater...after soliciting for forgiveness. The therapeutic happens. purely our dazzling amazing God can take the previous from us. do exactly no longer do it lower back.

I find repentance to trigger the opposite of self-loathing.

It is always best to face the truth. The Bible says the blood of Jesus cleanses us from our sin. If we've committed sin, we will never be clean unless we confess to God and ask forgiveness and ask for power to change.
