I think that they are APOSTATES, and they are trying to mislead, and stray away people with faith.

This is such a common question and it's amazing to me that it's even asked. My response to the believers is:

You should be glad that Atheists are on here.

Do you not have compassion in your heart? Do you not believe that their very souls are in danger of forever being burned in hellfire? Well, this is your chance to be a good believer and reach out; or are you only concerned with preaching to the choir?

I believe that you are on here for the best of reasons - you love your faith and believe it will save you and others.

Haven't you ever really wondered why Atheists are on here as well?

They, like you, believe there is probably no more important question in the world than "Is there a God?"

So why would you be upset if they were just trying to test themselves to see if there really is a good reason to believe? You should be glad (unless you are happy with the thought of souls burning in hell, which I believe you are not.)

But Atheists have good intentions as well (even though they may not always show it). Imagine for a moment that they are right and there is no God...

Then religious wars, scaring children with threats of hell, and persecution of homosexuals were all just a shameful waste. Moreover, look at the atrocities caused by the beliefs of groups like the Catholic church that teaches AIDS ridden areas of Africa and the Americas that condom use is a sin. They are (at least partly) responsible for the loss of innocent life. Believers spend more time worshiping their imaginary friend then they do caring about real issues like alleviating poverty, or doing something about the great problems this planet faces. With that in mind, the best thing atheists could be doing is trying to introduce people to a logical way of thinking and overcome their superstitions.

Also, consider what you asking this question really says... if you are worried about people who question your belief system, maybe you are not all that secure in your beliefs. If your beliefs are logical, then answer their questions; it shouldn't be an issue.

Ultimately, what matters is who is right (if any of us), and how do we know that.

If you wish to know more about the damage that religion causes, I suggest you read "The End of Faith," and "Letter to a Christian Nation" by Sam Harris.

Yahoo considers this an open board and everyone is allowed an opinion on the topics of religion and spirituality.

I believe that everyone has the right to their own beliefs even if others don't agree with them and just because someone rejects a deity doesn't mean they are searching. To think so is a thought basically just to stroke the ego of the person thinking that.

I think you might want to check the answers from the other 10000 times this question has been asked.

I come in here because I have the right to state my opinions. This is not a room for the religious people only. If you came looking for some sort of 'support group' where everyone shares your opinions, perhaps this is the wrong room for you.

Perhaps you didn't see the title of this particular area of Yahoo Answers.. it's called Religion & Spirituality... this is NOT Christian Chat, Christian Q&A or anything like it. This is a place for ANYONE to come and post a question or give an answer.. it doesn't exclude people.
Atheists ask the hard questions.. are you not strong enough in your faith to answer them?
There are plenty of us here who just don't believe in your god, which is where the term "non-believers" comes into play.. however, we lead very religious and/or spiritual lives.
If Yahoo wanted only christians, they'd have created a room with that label.

Everyone has the right to express their opinions just the same as you. There are no specific reasons, everyone has their own. Which are yours? What is true and what is false depends on who is who and on what you believe. No one is the bearer of the absolute truth. Besides, there is no such thing in religions. If you are a believer, let others be non-believers.

What non believers are you talking about? I believe in quite a few things - i am pagan. I'm not searching - but here to give my views. I don't feel that someone else giving other views contradicts mine. I am not following any false teachings.

Or do you just feel your beliefs are the only ones that are valid.

Lol I personally just like to have a lil fun now and then. Just because we don't believe in God doesn't mean that's all there is to us. It is just a philosphy and just as important in our lives as your religion is in yours. We do have the right to our own opinions just as you have yours.

There is more to us then beneathes the eye. If you would like to learn or at least get a proper idea of our lifestyle and teachings before you criticize here's a nice link I found the other day ^^

I think a lot of us have answered this question before.
To spread info (which Christians are sorely lacking) or some are spiritual but not of your particular religion. Oh, I've also seen the comment that we're just providing the alternative point of view. How boring would this section be if only one type of religion were on it?

I am definitely searching, but not for a vengeful God who threatens to roast his own creation if they don't behave properly. I'm trying to understand how religious people justify their credulity. I live in a country where people who believe the Earth is less than 10,000 years old make up a huge voting bloc. If I can change any minds, I am trying hard to do it. We should be looking for the common ground we share and then each agreeing to live to our own beliefs or, in my case, conscience.

Well there's the famous drinking game!

Also, it's called Religion and Spirituality, not Christians and More Christians.

Atheists, secular humanists, agnostics, pagans, and everyone else who doesn't follow an abrahamic tradition is just as entitled to be here.

We could also ask: Why don't the Christians go to Mythology and Folklore. It's just about the same.
