...and you are going the speed limit? Now, if you are going UNDER the speed limit that's one thing. But when you are AT the limit?

I live in Colorado and you can't go more than a few miles on a two lane road without someone PASSING you because they want to speed. Some will even do it when it isn't a legal passing zone.

Not only are they ILLEGALLY behind you (wouldn't be there if they weren't speeding) but then they risk YOUR safety by passing you by breaking the legal limit.

I cant see how they can have ANY concern for their own well being pulling stuff like that.

I just hate that humans can be so brazen and snide like that?

What do the rest of you think when this happens to you

PeterF, but here is the thing: it's not ME who dictates the law, so don't hassle me. I have to follow it, we all do. I am not on the high horse, COPS are. I am just trying to do the right thing.

CGIV76, so as a cop you never pulled over speeders? And if you did, did you say "sorry to bother you, I am just doing my job and had to pull you over?"

Because most cops would be rude and surly when they pull someone over.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Tedex- I do control my temper well and I do drive safely. My issue is that I am one of the only few DOING that.

The whole point of my question is that everyone around me ISN'T doing those two things.

Mel- YES, that hypocrisy and unfairness deeply bothers me.

I loved to ticket tailgaters.
They cause a lot of accidents.

But I also pull out of the way for speeders - I have no idea what they are speeding for, and don't care. I have no desire to be involved in an accident.
Just because they don't have any regard for their safety doesn't mean that you shouldn't take precautions and get out of their way.

That's what is called defensive driving.

I hate all the speeding that goes on on the roads today but I know I can't control them so I don't really let it bother me, I just try to stay out of their way. If someone passes me in a no passing zone or on a two-lane road, I just slow down to let them go past me so I don't get involved in their death wish.

We all should be prepared for the unexpected when we are out driving but you can't do that when all you can think about is going faster and faster and getting around the next car. It isn't a race and if people want to drive like that, they need to join NASCAR and leave the rest of us alone.

What bothers me the most are the truckers who go 80 to 100 mph to get to their next destination, especially when the roads are wet. So many tons of metal that can wipe out a whole bunch of people all at once.

Let's get honest ~ people are insensitive today and don't think about others and they don't stop to think what the consequences are. Heaven forbid if they would arrive somewhere 5 minutes later than they actually do.

And I disagree that officers are surly when they stop you. It's called authority, which they have a right to show because the person they stop was breaking the law. It's all in a days work dear.

I always like it when there is someone who wants to drive faster than me. I drive fast but I want some fool to keep the cops busy and not notice me. The last time I drove in Colorado, it was as if there were no cops. I saw one guy in a pickup, pass me at a high rate of speed, cross the median and the two lanes of traffic going the other way, and then into a field where they were having a motor cycle race. This was about an hour north of Denver.

I agree 100 percent with you. The Police are never around when cars are passing at 20 miles over the speed limit .But don't you dare go 2 miles over the Red lights go twirling.

Keep your eyes on the road & be ready for anything! That's just the way people drive these days & it just means that you need to be more aware of potential hazards that COULD come into your path as you drive on the open roadways! That is called driving defensively. Someone has to do it. Save yourself. That's all I have to offer you. If it upsets you that much, perhaps it's time to turn in your liscense & opt for public transportation as an alternative!

You think we (police officers) are on our "high horse"? Get real and get over yourself. Actually, yes, as a police officer, I have said to someone that I'm sorry to bother you but you are speeding and driving recklessly. We are NOT all alike, we are all different people and act as such. Drive and shut up.

Come on! Concentrate on driving safely.
If you can't control your temper you shouldn't be driving.

oh get off your high horse.

Speed limits need to be increased and people need to take driving courses.

It doesn't happen to me as I am one of the cars passing you.

Oh....do the speed limit in the right lane please, leave the left lane open for us. Thanks.
