Should we woman take it as,not right now,,or that we are wasting our time with you. I know this question has been asked a million times, but this man keeps in contact with me all the time,,he really goes out of his way,,plus he is going through tough times right now.If i told a man i just wanted to be friends i would be giving him the brush off,A man said once a friend is forever but a girlfriend isnt,,so is it really a bad thing for a man to say he wants to take it slow and doesnt want to lose me as a friend ,no he isnt using me for sex,,,or shall i move on?Or am i being shallow and missing out on something good from a friendship?

Take it as it comes. Hang out with him and be friends for a while. If that works out okay for both of you, then you know.

The "just friends" line sometimes is exactly true. He/she might actually just want to be friends. And if the recipient of that line can accept that, you could be friends for life. But remember, don't pretend to accept it, just to keep trying to go out with him. Eventually that will strain your relationship. If you are honestly his friend, eventually, some day, you could be more. But that's a different story.

What do the words literally mean? That's what he means. Guys aren't very sophisticated as a rule and often say what they mean. You may interpret the words as a brush off, maybe later, most anything you want but expect friendship. Drop him if you don't need a friend.

sometimes the spark is not there yet you are friends --- i found a lady like that and i did not realise all i wanted to be was her friend never anything more --- she felt that male and female could never be "just friends" and im sorry because we did have a good relationship and i really only wanted her friendship --- so accept that he just wants your friendship and enjoy his company ---- best wishes
