Twice I have found blood on my male five month old chihuahua's toys. After examining his mouth both times right after I found the blood, there is no trace in his mouth or otherwise. One tooth is loose. Is he loosing his baby teeth? If so, then why is there blood only on his toys and not in his mouth? If he is loosing his baby teeth to adult teeth, then should I feed him soft food instead of hard food which he has become accustomed to? How long will it take for his adult teeth to grow in?

Yes, he is teething and when he is chewing the tooth comes out and then there will be blood. You may want to take some wash cloths and wet them then ring them out and freeze them. Once frozen give him one it really sooths the gums. His new teeth will start coming in. All the best;~)

That might be the problem, I would take him to a vet and see if it might be something else. He might be loosing his teeth he is the right age. when you loose a tooth do see blood in you mouth all the time. Keep him on hard food, that way he can loose his baby teeth and get his adult teeth. It won't take long for his adult teeth to grow in once he's lost his baby teeth.

It is probably very well your puppy is losing his baby teeth. As with human babies, puppies find the teething period to be somewhat painful which is why they chew on toys (strange as it sounds...)
You probably do not see blood in your puppy's mouth because the bleeding stopped very quickly due to the clotting factor, plus there will be adult teeth already there.

You do not need to change the food your puppy is on. This is part of a puppy's growing pattern and the type of food he is on will not affect him. If however, you find that he is not eating his food very well, try him on the canned (but try to keep this to a minimum...most animals LOVE wet food and may give you a hard time about taking him/her off it).

They say that soaking a puppy's toy in water and then freezing it is desirable to some puppies as they can chew the toy and the ice acts as an antalgesic (numbs the pain).

In all, you have no reason to worry :)

Is it all the toys or just certain ones. If it is certain ones, get rid of the ones that are causing the bleeding. It could be the dog has loose teeth because he could be going through the stage of losing his baby teeth. That usually happens at about 6 months.

Don't worry, puppies teeth just like human babies. Usually between 4-6 months. You will see a little blood, you may or may not see the baby teeth when they fall out (often the puppies swallow them - that's fine). You don't need to change your pup's food. But make sure he has plenty of things to chew on, since he's been inclined to chew on you if he has nothing else. There are chew toys designed for teething puppies, like the water/ice ones that are available for human babies, in case you feel your pup needs something to sooth his gums. But most dogs has no problems.

Sounds like he is losing his milk-teeth. You should really keep him chewing on dry dog food and hard toys. It will help him lose the teeth quicker and it will help him with some of the pain involved. It's a natural thing, and if his teeth are already falling out, then his adult teeth are already on their way in.
Good luck and have fun with your puppy!

The blood on his toys is from when he chews he makes his teeth bleed. I wouldn't change his food because it helps loosen his teeth and could possibly give him diarrhea. Dogs chew on things when there teeth are loose. It helps them fall out and so will the hard dog food.
