My friends daughter is having a formal wedding reception, and has hired a DJ to perform for the later part of the evening. There is a wedding singer and band that are performing during the cocktail and dinner hour. She has requested that the DJ wear formal attire, which he said is normal. Does she need to provide him with a buttoniere? I told her no, that those were reserved for members of the wedding party, and to identify significant family members. Now I am thinking maybe I was wrong. Need some clarification. What is right, provide a buttoniere or is that overboard?

No, he does not require a buttoniere, just as you wouldn't provide one for the serving staff. He's there to work.

I don't think it's necessary. A bouttoniere is to signify the family members and the wedding party.

They normally are for family, but in formal situations all men usually wear a buttoniere as far as I know. Have her buy him one and give him the option of whether he feels it's necessary to wear it throughout the night.

I wouldn't. That would take away from the wedding party and the family members.

for the reason which you divorced her father and not her you're nonetheless her stepmother. So i think of it would be in basic terms advantageous to introduce you at that. yet another determination is former stepmother, yet i do no longer somewhat like that myself. How approximately chum of the family contributors, or in basic terms undeniable chum. or how approximately she in basic terms introduces you via call and permit human beings parent it out themselves!

I would say it is optional. We are a wedding officiant service, and sometimes he is given a boutonniere, and sometimes not. It is a nice gesture, but not necessary.

No, he doesn't need it, and I've never heard of someone dictating a dj as to what clothes to wear!
