You need a routine for your skin... First and foremost DO NOT pick or excessively touch your face... Your hand are filthy and full of germs... Also, drink plenty of water and eat your fruits/veggies.. You might want to try a more gentle approach with your skin... Get a creamy cleanser like Cetaphil and wash 2x a day in the morning and at night.. If you have longer hair or bangs sleep with a headband in your hair to keep it off your face.. I use old t-shirt sleeves... Try that for a couple weeks, see if your skin improves... Also, skip the astringent for awhile your skin does need some oil. I thought I had "problem" skin.. I will use water on my face everyday in the morning, but I wash my face with soap every other day and my skin has really cleared up. It's no longer red and irritated on my cheeks.. Or if you think your face is oily use witch hazel available at the drugstore and use that INSTEAD of alcohol based products...

Some people are just born lucky with good skin and genes. My sister has the better genes she has NEVER gotten pimples she just washes her face with Dove.
I have to work to keep my face clear lol.
Sometimes its not only the outside you need to treat. Its also your diet! Drinking water clears your system including your blood stream, pores and skin cells. If you drink about 2 liters of water a day or atleast 1 liter a day - you would notice clearer skin.
Also greasy food is bad for your skin like pizza, french fries...you know. Its not hard seeing whats greasy.
And some stuff you buy in stores is bad because it has chemicals that can irritate your skin. Washing your face with Dove soap and keeping it moisturized with Aloe Vitamin E lotion helps and its not easy to find or expensive. You can try Proactiv - i've never tried it though.

Lauren,
Find a regime and stick to it - if $ is a problem try Acne Free
and do it twice a day (it may break out more before settling in)
before you wash at night take a hot compress and apply and repeat - and be sure you do the regime twice a day.
Lots of water
rest
you are what you eat.
I am in to suggesting more pure and natural products and clear advantage from arbonne is a great product
as is their intelligence line -

Well not having a clear skin does not mean you do not wash your face. you did not exactly specifiy your skin problem, do you have acne or what? if you have acne, then the solution depends on your age, if your in your teenage then see your doctor who will prescribe you some creams that might help clear the skin. if your over 20, then you might have hormonal imbalance, this means your problem is internal not external and so you might be advised to take oral antibiotics, or a balance powder which is made of herbs only which helps balance your hormones and clear your skin. there are many laser techniques as well, go to one and ask for help.
good luck

Eat and sleep well. Drink plenty of water, 6-8 glasses a day. Do over wash or use harsh chemicals on your skin. Sometimes it's hormones and not dirt. Go see a dermatologist to make sure your treating your skin the best way possible.

Pimples are caused by bacteria. See a dermatologist. They may recommend acne medication if your outbreaks are bad. There are lots of new topical medications on the market. A lot of them use peroxide formulae.
I use hydrogen peroxide (the cheap liquid in a bottle). I have oily skin, and get pimples from razor burn. The peroxide works better than rubbing alcohol (which is what is in aftershave, and a lot of astringents).

Steer clear of processed foods, including products with excess sugar and fats, including chocolate and many desserts.
Eat a healthy, (organic if you can), natural diet, with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.
Drink lots and lots of water. Sleep is important, for our general health, and it affects the quality of our skin condition too - often international travel can upset this healthy balance, resulting in eruptions.

Use something that's for oily skin, or use pro active. According to the commercials, it works very well. I don't use it but everyone says it works.
