I hear and read that a lot of people are not aware of this. They saved people's lives, spread the gospel, ministered to our blessed LORD and Savior. http://www.bellaonline.com/subjects/9453.asp

How about Deborah-a judge of Israel

How about Anna-the prophetess

How about Mary Magdalene-she was a high class citizen and healed by Jesus.. And she was given the wonderful position of being the first at the tomb on his resurrection.

I've heard that.
Did you know the character Satan, as an anti-God did not exist in the Old Testament. The word is used in Job but it is describing an anti-human angel. The word means adversary. In the Garden, a snake tempts Eve and Lucifer is the name of a king who thought he could build some temple higher than the Hebrews Holy whatever.
Seems those New Testament dudes who 'spread the news' weren't very reliable.
After all, isn't there a quote about 'not suffering a woman to teach'?

I clicked on the link, and apparently, we define the phrase "important positions" differently. Most women were examples of how to be obedient to their husbands. I'm not saying that some women in the bible didn't serve an important role, but no where near the status of men placed on the bible.

You are correct in saying "important" but not with the same status as men in that day. There were numerous important roles of women in the bible, although NONE of them were disciples of Jesus Christ, commissioned by Him to preach or to baptize. There were those who taught their children to know and serve the Lord (Hanna the mother of Samuel the prophet), one told the good news of the the resurrection of Jesus (Mary Magdalene), godly mothers (Jochebed-the mother of Moses), Rahab, an harlot who saved the lives of warriors of Israel, Deborah, a judge in Israel, and Queen Esther, the niece of Mordecai, who married the king of Persia and saved the Israelites from an edict of destruction by standing up for her people to name a few. Many women were also martyrs for the Lord. They are too numerous to name in a short time period and limited space. Thanks for the reminder.

Sure. In the OT when Moses told the men they could "keep the women who have not known men" for themselves as war booty. That sounds pretty important.

And Paul was really helping out when he said "Women ought to keep silence in the churches." Saving all the females from the pesky burden of having to say anything!

Go bible!!

That's very lovely, but it somewhat glosses over the reality that the Holy Bible makes it VERY clear that women are to be subservient to men, just as men are to be subservient to God:

Genesis 3:16

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

Isaiah 3:12

As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them.

1 Corinthians 11:3

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

1 Corinthians 14:34-36

Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

Ephesians 5:22-24

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Colossians 3:18

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

1 Timothy 2:11-15

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing.

1 Peter 3:1

Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands.

Either the bible is right, or it is wrong, it cannot be both!

Women may do lots of wonderful things, but according to the bible they are still "only women".

The Catholic church created the sexism that we still experience in 2007. It's absolutely disgusting to me.
