It's beneficial. When they eat grass that means they're not feeling well,or they have a stomach ache.So when they eat grass it helps them feel better..Believe me it's not odd.My dog does it all the time that's how I know she's not feeling well.Sometimes they throw up afterwards not always, but sometimes. It also helps they're digestive system, and gives them the minerals and calcium they need.

He's absolutely FRANTIC to get outside, isn't he? Mine too.
The vet told me that the blades of grass pass through the intestines scraping the sides as they pass, ridding them of some parasites. So it supposedly is beneficial. What I have a hard time dealing with is the throwing up that ALWAYS follows. I try to stop them eating grass as they aren't picky about where they throw up.....on the couch, the bedspread, and of course the carpet.
There's gotta be a better way.....

Well normally dogs eat grass when their stomachs are upset, so then it causes them to throw up to get whatever is upseting their stomach out. You may need to take him to the vet, or this could become usual and he will continuely eat the grass even when his stomach is perfectly fine
good luck :]

It is not bad for him. He might also be eating the dirt which has vitamins that he needs that he is not getting enough of. I would get him some dog vitamins for him. You should not EVER tell him to stop eating the grass, unless for your own reasons. He will probably not eat the grass or dirt after you give him some kind of vitamin.

Most dogs eat grass; some more then others. It may cause him to return his dinner but otherwise is harmless. Nobody knows why but there are a lot of guesses out there.

Dogs often crave grass....wild dogs eat plenty of it, but it already digested in the stomachs of their victims .....it contains many good things and is a good form of complex carbs.....and then there are those who believe the myth that dogs eat grass to vomit.....because they lack the proper teeth to chew it small enough it often sticks in their throats and causes reflex vomiting to clear....

It's pretty much normal, dogs usually do this when they are going to throw-up or have an upset stomach. If your dog has been acting like this for an extended period of time you can either ignore it or call your vet to make sure nothing's wrong with him.
