Why do so many religious people in here insist on calling atheists, agnostics and followers of other religions fools? Do they not realize they are disobeying their own text? I'm sure someone will point out that jesus supposedly called some people fools, but there is no hard historical evidence he even existed, much less said it. Do these people think they are above such simple rules? Or do they not bother to read the bible they rely so heavily upon?

Psalms 14:1 calls atheists fools.

Matthew 5:22 says that you risk hellfire if you call someone a fool.

But sure enough if you point this out they will say it is "out of context" or not to be taken literally.

Matthew 5:22 However, I say to YOU that everyone who continues wrathful with his brother will be accountable to the court of justice; but whoever addresses his brother with an unspeakable word of contempt will be accountable to the Supreme Court; whereas whoever says, ‘You despicable fool!’ will be liable to the fiery Ge·hen´na.

To call someone a fool is to imply that they are ignorant/stupid. Such is true of the majority of persons on the Earth in at least a few areas of knowledge or understanding.

Note that the scripture refers to calling someone a 'despicable' fool.
That is a little different then simply calling someone a fool.

It works both ways, many Atheists and other groups also call Christians fools. You are making it seem as if only Christians act as such. I think that different groups should just learn to work in peace. If you dont accept someones beliefs, just leave them alone. There really is no need for all this tension that developes because of conflict between different belife groups. If people just learned to respect others religious or nonreligious beliefs things would be much more peaceful.

Sorry, did a search...."thou shalt call no man fool" is no where in the bible.

ALSO!!!

Cornelius Tacitus lived from A.D. 55 to A.D. 120. He was a Roman historian and has been described as the greatest historian of Rome, noted for his integrity and moral uprightness. His most famous works are the Annals and the Histories. The Annals relate the historical narrative from Augustus’ death in A.D.14 to Nero’s death in A.D. 68. The Histories begin their narrative after Nero’s death and finish with Domitian’s death in A.D. 96. In his section describing Nero’s decision to blame the fire of Rome on the Christians, Tacitus affirms that the founder of Christianity, a man he calls Chrestus (a common misspelling of Christ, which was Jesus’ surname), was executed by Pilate, the procurator of Judea during the reign of the Roman emperor Tiberias. Tacitus was hostile to Christianity because in the same paragraph he describes Christus’ or Christ’s death, he describes Christianity as a pernicious superstition.

How can you say there is no proof Jesus existed, when this well respected historian wrote about Jesus...and he did not even believe in the Christian faith, so he was not bias....if you need more, I'll find it for you.

Yes, it does warn against people calling others fools. They may act like a fool, but you are warned of hell fire if you call someone a fool.

Why? I believe it is because when you get this mad at someone you are in danger of committing a greater sin, such as murder..

Mt 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. We are cautioned about calling believers fools, but the Bible also says Ps 14:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. I would rather use the word deceived.

We didnt say it God said it..... The fool hath said in his heart there is no God. Psalm 14:1 and 53:1

I shouldnt waste my time telling you this but I dont want your blood on my hands. Listen up! The birth, life, death and ressurrection of Jesus Christ is the most well documented , hard historical evidenced, certain fact that ever has been recorded in the annuls of man's history. Your statement that it is possible Jesus never existed is absurd, totaly absurd, and nothing but absurd. Ill let God call you a fool and Ill just call you...............................................well absurd. Cap'n Arlo

as with many issues, you can find passages in the bible to support either view. in this case there are far more instances of the bible writers calling various people fools than the single warning against it.

I have proof that Jesus existed and still exist more than you existing.

But to answer the question, no one is holy, all are fools and we insist on foolish things as well as ask foolish questions.

That's from one fool to another fool.
