the game will fit in the console but your not going to be able to play it, more than likely it for the ps2 if it isn't well i guess you start saving for xmas and get him a ps3, it seem that the price should be dropping from the 600 dollars during the holidays!!!

No. But you should be able to do it the other way around. Try getting him a PS3 console, selling the PS2 on ebay or donating it to a kid without a video game system, and playing the old games in the new console. Or, drop the Playstations and get a Wii. Wiis play all of the old Nintendo and Sega games... so it'll take forever to wear the novelty out.

Sorry but the PS2 Will only play PS2 and Ps1 games not Ps3, Guess your going to have to get a PS3! :)

No it will not ! PS 3 games are only designed for the PS 3 system. Now you cna play PS 2 games on the PS 3 since the system was designed with backwards compatibilty. You'd be wasting $60 bucks buying a PS 3 game for a PS 2 system.
On July 12 supposedly, the PS 3 price will drop from $599 to $499 so if you're thinking about getting your son a PS 3, now may be the time to start your xmas shopping ! LOL !

No it will not because they are different type discs. Playstation 3 uses blu-ray discs, and playstation 2 uses DVD format discs. So either way the PS2 will not read the PS3 disc. However the PS3 will read PS2 & PS1 discs.

no because it is the other way around a ps2 game would work in a ps3 console if you don't believe me just go to ps3.com and call customer service

NO, it won't play. PS3 games are too advanced for the PS2 to handel. But the PS3 can play PS2 games. :)

It will fit, but it will not work. The PS3 games are Bluray but the PS2 is not a Bluray player.
