Is there any software for WinXP to keep files settings the same?

I want to keep windowsXP file details and settings consistant "All of the time".

Too many times I look for files and WinXP suddenly wants to list them as "Artist", "Genre", "Album name" etc.... when most of the files are text files or EXEs.

So I am looking for software (or batch file) that will remind WindowsXP every time (when it starts up) to keep my files listed as intend.

I apply changes to "all folders" and sooner or later, Windows will eventually take over and assign its own details and settings.

Have you tried arranging the files in the order you want, then right clicking the page and hitting refresh. See if that helps

Try opening a folder so you can see all the contents.
click View
click "arrange icons by"
make your choice
