He lived a perfect life but he was crucified for the sins of the whole world.

Everyone DESERVES justice. Whether or not we get it is something else entirely. Millions don't. Millions of children are born into suffering and die of starvation related causes every year. Oh and before you ask, yes, I DO what I can to alleviate their suffering. If a benevolent god existed, he could stop all their suffering right NOW.

Christians, for example think they should be rewarded for all eternity simply for "believing" in an ancient myth. What kind of justice is that?

Actually, Jesus didn't receive justice by the standards even of the time. Remember, Pilate washed his hands, declaring himself innocent of the blood of this just man--apparently on grounds that the crowd was coercing him. (Interesting theory. Good thing he didn't have to present it to the non-existent Bar Association of Roman-Occupied Judaea.)

In any case, that a principle has been violated in a prominent case says absolutely nothing whatever about the validity of the principle. So your question assumes a falsehood.

In fact, we do deserve justice from each other and from God. We're way better off if what we get is mercy, of course, in both cases. But more important, OTHERS deserve at least justice, and very often mercy, FROM US!

Jesus did recieve justice. Justice is defined by the people and governments of the time. The local government found Jesus to be guilty of a high crime, claiming to be the king of the Jews and the son of God. The courts reprimanded him before exacting the justice of being put to death. As all heretics were punished at that time. So therefor Jesus received justice, and knew what he was getting into, if you believe in the texts. Often times it takes this sort of action to exact change in a worlds thinking, and governmental proceedings.

If indeed he existed, he was crucified because of the times he lived in. If he lived today he'd be treated as a cult leader and ignored. The baloney that he was crucified for the "sins" of world is ridiculous.

First off, Christ died for His people, the Church, the flock, the ecclesia, the called out ones:

Joh 10:11 I am the Good Shepherd! The Good Shepherd lays down His life on behalf of the sheep.
Not all are sheep, just those who are His.

Joh 10:14 I am the Good Shepherd, and I know those that are Mine, and I am known by the ones that are Mine.
Joh 10:15 Even as the Father knows Me, I also know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

We, as sinful humans, "deserve" Hell. God, through His grace and mercy, chose out some for salvation, not based on our works or who we are positionally, but simply out of His divine grace and love.

ALWAYS,

receive justice. We will get justice in this world sometimes

BUT,

God will ultimately avenge the saints.

We do not deserve justice. We do not *receive* justice, that is the beauty of grace. Jesus took the punishment we so richly deserved upon himself.

Oh yes! that makes sense. Since ONE MAN was denied justice, we should all forsake justice.

So if Jesus jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge, we should all follow him?

This is why I smirk at the ones who espouse the Rapture theory so hot and heavy. They are bound and determined that they do not deserve punishment and that God will pick them up out of it while they totally ignore Jesus when he said "Pick up your cross and follow me"
