Shraddha, Bhakti and Love are the three steps
When we surrender our mind to God it is Shraddha
When we surrender our mind and heart... it is bhakti
When we surrender our whole being to him... it becomes love

As I think I'll say you because I don't have any text book knowledge, If it is wrong please excuse me.
Love or affection to wards God and to know the concept of God leads a person to Bhakti and in Bhakti when a person reaches to a particular state where it is devotion which is ultimate.
Edit: Bhakti is eternal. It means that it is the eternally existing path to attain God. God is one, so the path of His attainment is also one, and thus, the same path of bhakti ensures the attainment of any of the forms of God. The path of bhakti is prevalent in every brahmand of this entire universe and it is for all the souls of this universe. It remains the same in all the four yugas (satyug, treta, dwapar and kaliyug) and, as it is directly related to soul and God, it is above caste, creed, sect and nationality. It can be adopted by any person of any nation of this world, because it is gifted by the supreme God Himself for the benefit of the humankind; and again, there are no physical requirements in doing bhakti. There are no meditation postures to adopt, no concentration techniques to follow and no rituals to observe. So it can be done by anyone, young, old or sick, and at any time in twenty-four hours, because bhakti is the pure love of your heart that longs to meet the Divine beloved of your soul in this very lifetime. The philosophy of bhakti is also described in Narad Bhakti Sutra and Shandilya Bhakti Sutra.
All kinds of good karmas and all kinds of yog and gyan-related practices are only sattvic, but when they are predominated with bhakti, they become the means of God realization, because bhakti unfolds the field of God’s Grace.

beautiful question.Heart rending.I suggest that you read Srimadbhagvatam and you will feel and know
edit-
Bhakti, devotion and love are the same. When you learn something about God-hear , see, or read the leelas ie sports of his suguna rupa or learn something about him through ordinary experiences of life it arises.Bhakti cant be described. It is to be felt and thats bhakti's beauty. This love is in each of us. But the dirt that we have accumulated over the many births makes us forget our eternal love affair with God.In Kaliyuga bhakti is the best way to get closer to God. A bhakta wants to love, serve and be near his God always. He doesnot care for bhogas ie material pleasures or mukti ie salvation. He wants to serve and love his lord whether in Vaikuntha, heaven , earth and any other place.Bhakti leads to knowledge of the absolute spirit too. A bhakta knows no peace without bhakti- knowledge ie gyaana or yoga sadhana etc dont hold a lot of attraction for him. Only love satisfies him.
Radha is bhakti personified. Mira is bhakti personnified and so is Laxman . Love is to is to be felt and reading of Srimadbhagvatam has the power to inculcate bhakti.
Lord Krishna says-" my bhakti alone never perishes"
I am nobody to describe bhakti. No one can describe bhakti adequately not even the greatest of saints.

Kavingyar Kannadasan has written many books on Bhagwat Geeta and Nalayara Divyaprabhandam. Since you want to read in Tamil, then you look for "Thevaram" "Thiruvasakam" or "Thirumurai". Kannadasan's books would be of immense help to you. You can get these in any good Tamil Books shop in Chennai.

"to god" implies that God is somewhere where we aren't, so we have to go "to" God.
In my opinion this is incorrect because we all have souls, which are a part of God actually, so therefore we are never separated from God.
More like love and devotion to God might lead to opening our awareness that God is not separate from us, nor we from God, ever.
"towards god" imo means that we are simply aiming our love and devotion towards God, wherever we perceive God to be. This might mean again that we perceive God to be separate from us, or we might not, depending on how aware we have become.
I think "to god" and "towards god" are both just different descriptions of the same path of becoming aware and awake to know that God we are not separated from.

devotion is the intensity of bhakti for someone and love is the result of bhakti , what i think sir and bhakti is the process
Edit : i have been modified my answer as devotion is the intensity of Bhakti more clearly if we understand
Bhakti is the process in which we do service to the Lord in many ways ...our Shastras or Lord Chatanya had given 9 ways of Bhakti to the Lord. or you can become anybody's bhakta means you have faith in him and you are serving him through various ways ......ie you are his bhakta
devotion means what is the intensity of your bhakti , where are you in Bhakti
like people generally say you are fully devoted to someone means your full time is for the service of that one by heart. you always think about that person or God whatever only so devotion means how much intense bhakta you are that much you are devoted to someone . like if you serve your parents , you are the bhakta but may not be fully devoted because you have to do some other things also.
Love : the result of bhakti as you reach closer to the Lord you are getting the Love of the Lord. Love means you get bliss or pleasure by uniting with someone .... here you unite with the peopel or Lord's devotee or..................... as you progress in bhakti ...........and one day you unite with the Lord himself hence you have got the love of the Lord.
Edit 2 : uniting with someone or something like physical matter, emotion, thought, heart , soul
uniting with someone emotions means if your father care for you and if you are not able to success then He cries for you because you are in sad mood hence emotions are meeting. that is love of father for son.
more general definition of love is that you become like someone or something , if someone is in sad than you experience his sadness.
