Islam is the youngest world religion and yet the world's second largest, next to Christianity. It claims over 700 million members and dominates 42 countries in Asia, Europe, and Africa. Islam means to submit (to Allah¹s will). A follower of Islam is called a Muslim (a verb form of to submit). The founder of Islam was Prophet Mohammed(pbuh), He was an Arab born about A.D. 570 in Mecca (a city in today's Saudi Arabia). He often retreated to a cave outside of Mecca where he would spend periods of time in deep meditation about the degenerate state of religion and morals among his own countrymen. During one of these retreats, in A.D. 610, he reported that he was visited by the angel Gabriel, who commanded him to recite in the name of the Lord... The message he received later became the essence of the Quran (recitings), the book Muslims believe is the word of God. Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) said he had been ordained a prophet, called to bring his people out of moral decadence, superstition, and polytheism.
Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) said that there was but one God, named Allah (which means the God), to the exclusion of all other deities. This brought him much opposition, forcing him to leave Mecca in the south and move to Medina in the north. Mohammed instructed his followers to face Mecca, his birthplace, when praying rather than Jerusalem as the Jews did (1 Kings 8). To this day, Muslims face Mecca in prayer, the act itself a symbol of hostility between the Jews and the Muslims.
For the next ten years, he and his followers conquered villages in the regions around Medina. In 630, accompanied by 10,000 men, Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) marched back into Mecca. He purged Mecca of hundreds of its pagan gods and deities, establishing a monotheistic religion. He was successful in uniting a federation of Arab tribes that would eventually conquer the Byzantine and Persian empires.
Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) died in 632. In 636, the Muslims conquered Jerusalem. They cleared the rubble from the temple site and built a mosque and the Dome of the Rock, identifying it as the place where Prophet Mohammed (pbuh)went to heaven on his winged steed. This is Islam¹s third most sacred site (after Prophet Mohammed¹s (pbuh) birthplace in Mecca and his tomb in Medina).

Islam originated from the first man on the earth , Prophet Adam, at the place where Kaabah is situated in the holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia, the first & oldest city on the earth. About 1,25,000 prophets came on different parts of the earth. Muhammedur Rasoolullah Sallallaho Alaihi Wa-aalihi Wasallam was the last prophet of Islam. He completed the work which was braught part by part by other prophets as Islamic teachings , parts of LIFE CODE for human beings. That's why the holy book of Allah 'Quraan' is indestructible as it can be memorised even by those who don't know Arabic. Its Arabic is such that this is possible . No other religious book has this quality because those are human creations. I too could memorise the 30 th part (Amm) within a month when I was only 5. I felt as if I was reading good very sweet poetries in Arabic, though it is not in poetry. Prior to arrival of Prophet Muhammed(pbuh), as long as the prophets were alive true followers were obeying him, but the moment he was departing from the earth, they started disobeying slowly & most of them were mixing their own fabricated words in the scriptures & because of that the originality , authenticity & correctness were being lost. The next prophet was coming with his teachings(book) & same thing was happening. This is how three big books like Taurah, Zaboor & Injeel(Bible), all big books of Islam , besides thousands of small books brought about by all prophets. Isaa(Jesus) was last but one prophet if Islam & after that there was a big gap of about 600 years. Then the last Prophet Muhammed(pbuh) came with 'Quraan Majeed' in such nicest Arabic that it became indestructible. About his arrival there were predictions in Taurah , Zaboor & Bible too. In Yuhanna Bible even his name Paraclete has been mentioned. Christians & Jews are still thinking that the last prophet is yet to come & so, they are still waiting but Muslims believe that he , the last prophet came & went & no prophet will come further(See Surah Al Ahzaab, the words :KHAATAMUN NABEE-EEN, i.e., the end of prophecy after Muhammed). The Taurah, Zaboor & Bible which we see today are not at all original ones(which Jews & Christians too agree) rather highly distorted ones having so many versions which change every year through so called 'research'(all imaginations only) whereas Quraan is completely intact having not even any change of a letter(Fncyclopaedia Britannica too says this) because of "Haafizs" who can memorise it wholly even in tender age of 8 years. There are over 1,00,00,000 such hafizs in the whole world. That's why it is indestructible true book of Allah in original form.

Islam originated with Muhammad, who claimed to have seen the angel Gabriel in a cave. The angel Gabriel supposedly revealed the new religion of Islam to Muhammad.
Muhammad began preaching Islam at Mecca (in Saudi Arabia) before migrating to Medina, from where he united the tribes of Arabia into a singular Arab Muslim religious polity. With Muhammad's death in 632, disagreement broke out over who would succeed him as leader of the Muslim community. Umar ibn al-Khattab, a prominent companion of Muhammad, nominated Abu Bakr, who was Muhammad's intimate friend and collaborator. Others added their support and Abu Bakr was made the first caliph. This choice was disputed by some of Muhammad's companions, who held that Ali ibn Abi Talib, his cousin and son-in-law, had been designated his successor. Abu Bakr's immediate task was to avenge a recent defeat by Byzantine (or Eastern Roman Empire) forces, although he first had to put down a rebellion by Arab tribes in an episode known as the Ridda wars, or "Wars of Apostasy".

GOD...It came from GOD. As a gift to Adam who was repentant after he was sent from the garden and removed from God. God gave the gift of Islam to Adam and he is the first prophet of Islam the gift is for all...it is our "defense" against Lucifer who was given dominion over this world for a time. God has sent apostles and prophets to all peoples throughout history to guide the people into the way of God.
By the time of the flood Noah and some of his family were the only Muslims (one who practices Islam which is complete submission to the will of God). Noah is also a prophet of Islam.
Later Islam became known as Judaism because for thousands of years the tribes of Judah (sons of Abraham) were the only keepers of the faith.
When the Messiah Jesus came to steer the people back to God because their religion was being hijacked by the Pagans (Romans) a "new" sect of Messianic Judaism came into being. This message the Christ the Messiah had come to deliver a new revelation spread like wildfire in the Roman world so the Romans coined the phrase Christianity to describe these Christ proclaimers. Shortly after that they (the Romans) hijacked "Christianity" and turned it into another form of Paganism.
When the message of Jesus was all but lost God sent his word (the Qu'ran) to Mohammad who was the only upright man in the land. The Word was delivered by the Angel Gabriel...YES the SAME Gabriel that appeared to all the prophets (Moses, David, Solomon, Ezekiel, Daniel...etc.). The Qu'ran was delivered in a language (Arabic) foreign to the Pagans and protected by a number secret the Pagans were incapable of solving.
You see the Romans were quite lazy...when they conquered a land the forced they people to learn Latin instead of learning the language of the people (so they didn't bother learning the complex language of Arabic) . They also had no concept of the number zero thus making them incapable of discovering the number secret of the Qu'ran which is based on 0 thru 9 and not Roman numerals (I, II,III, IV..etc.). The secret has never been written down and has guarded the Qu'ran against corruption for 1400 plus years.

If you really were interested, I would THINK you'd do some Web searching and sit down to read.
But just in case you're serious:
Yes, it was in what is now Saudi Arabia. Mohammed (on whose name be peace, even though I'm not Muslim) claimed the Koran--spell it as you will--was dictated to him by the Angel Gabriel, as God's last revelation to mankind.
