Does it surprise/bother you that many people are concentrating on things like abortion and gay marriage, when many of the bigger issues like environment and healthcare are being ignored or being labeled as "propoganda"?

Perhaps it's because I care more about the country (and rest of the world) as a whole, rather than the trivial personal details.

Comments?

Joel-

Even if global warming is all "lies" as you say, don't you want your kids and kids kids to be able to enjoy their planet without living in filth and pollution with no trees or animals?

It doesn't surprise me at all. Fear issues draw in a lot of voters.

It bothers me because we really should be concentrating on the far more important things - health care, ending the war, civil rights, etc.

Its easier to focus on religious beliefs such as abortion and gay marriage because every person has a side. Moral. Religious. Its an emotional endeavor. If everyone would stop judging others, as it says in the bible, then we could focus on global warming, which IS happening! But we won't do that for quite a few years.

And yes, if you say homosexuality isn't right, you ARE judging. And you ARE going against what the bible says. But funny enough, in science and religion: what goes around comes around. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged.

**Side note: I do know that the bible does say that a man and a woman should be the only two sleeping together, however, when you look at the BIG picture; step outside yourself, you'll see your soul is both male and female. So homosexuality in the flesh is spiritually, not homosexual at all.

I tend to agree with you. I dont care at all about gay marriage and I am fine with the status of abortion as it is right now.

Healthcare on the other hand is a serious problem. The way it is now is unacceptable, but being of a Libertarian mindset I dont trust the government to run it.

Who says what are the bigger issues. Something may very well be a bigger issue to you but not to anyone else. I am very much concerned about abortion. There is much propaganda going on concerning all the issues. You have to figure out what is media hype and what is real.

I think that the issues of abortion and gay marriage are far more important than the lies about global warming.

First of all the two things you mentioned "abortion and gay marriage" are strong influences concerning the single most important institution on the face of the earth - the family!

If you want to see where government authorized abortion and gay marriage lead check out the european countries that have succeeded in getting these things passed. There is no more commitment in marital relationships anymore and the disease rates in those countries have climbed drastically.
It has been said, "As goes the home, so goes the nation." The deterioration of the home is more important by far than any other issue facing our country.

Gay marriage would open the door to every sexual vice you could imagine and destroy the institution of marriage to the point that male and female roles would be eclipsed in the debauchery of sexual permissiveness. Anyone could marry anyone and sexual perversion would have to be permitted in every circumstance once homosexuality was acceptable to the masses. Every sexual bird of prey would come out of the closet and demand rights. The government would have to approve animal sex, sex with children including babies, sado
masochists, transexuals, bi-sexuals, cross dressers and on and on like a huge parade of filth vomitiing all over our nation.
IF THAT IS WHAT YOU WANT THEN YOU CAN DISCOUNT THE ABORTION AND HOMOSEXUAL ISSUE, but I will never sit idly by and watch this nation go down without speaking up against it.

The environment and healthcare certainly need to be addressed, but to think they transcend abortion and same sex marriage in importance is utter foolishness! Anyone who believes this is seriously in need of a wake up call. Our nation is on the verge of a moral landslide that would make this nation the biggest cesspool in the world.

Call me alarmist if you like, but there are generations at stake here, and family issues must have precedence. I wonder how many of you realize how the government is being used to take away parental rights. It is acceptable
now in many places to let a teenager or younger girl cross state lines for abortions without parental notification. Planned Parenthood, the biggest abortion provider in the nation applauds this because they are making multiplied millions of dollars with the money made killing the grandchildren of many citizens of this country. They don't plan parenthood - they plan abortions in a large percentage of the cases and have hidden information that is now coming to light where they lied to women to get the abortion and the money irrespective of the cost to the individual in misery, physical complications and psychological complications.

There is so much behind the homosexual agenda that is false and preconceived because the slogan "gay rights" was instituted. Being gay is not a right -- it is a sexual preference.
I don't get special legislation as a heterosexual because I haven't come out of the closet and demanded it. They are not physically attacked as much as they claim, and it has recently been proven through statistical medical information that most of the time gays are physically abused it is by other gays -- especially in the case of men.

The public has been fed so many lies about these two subjects that they have been sold a bill of goods that they have swallowed hook, line and sinker and are totally unaware they are being used.

The democrats stand to gain the most. They have, for the most part, no children and therefore care less about families.
The republican party has a 75% higher rate of children than them and stood firmly for family values for years but now the lies have even turned some of them against the families they once protected.

Wake up people. This nation is is deep trouble. While we slept those who would destroy our nation to satisfy their own agenda have come in strong and taken over.

You can discount this if you like. You will not like the results.

EDIT: THE PEOPLE WHO FAIL TO SEE THIS THE MOST ARE THOSE WITHOUT CHILDREN. THEY HAVE LITTLE TO LOSE NOW - BUT THEY DON'T CONSIDER WHAT THEIR CHILDREN WILL HAVE TO FACE IN THE FUTURE.
The rest who fail to see this do so out of ignorance of all the facts. Try doing some study that isn't laced with liberal bias and dishonesty. You will get the shock of your life.

Yes, it does bother me that we are focusing on nonsensical issues. But, I would also consider "global warming" and health care nonsensical too.

To me, the real issues would be the economy, renewable energy (not dealing with the environment, but as an economic issue), term limits, allowing third party candidates into the national debates...etc.

I've never heard the enviroment and health care being called propaganda..........

Maybe it is, but when you elect someone you're suppossed to do it because you want them to represent what you believe....not just because of the issues they take on.

we are slaves to the system. if that were true, then all we would have to do is ban together and have them address it and do something about it, but since we can not possibly ban together, we are at the mercy of whoever is in power.
