A rosary ring has a crucifix and ten small bumps on a ring. Here is a picture of one - http://www.personaltouchrosaries.com/img/store/specials/rosaryrings.jpg

Place the ring on your thumb and pray the Our Father at the crucifix and then rotate the ring until you feel the first bump and then pray a Hail Mary while reflecting on one of the mysteries in the life of Christ. Rotate the ring a little more until you feel the next bump and say another hail Mary. keep doing this until you feel the crucifix again. At this point say a Glory Be and then move the ring to your index finger.

Continue this until you have moved the ring to all five fingers to match the five mysteries of the Rosary. I keep a ring rosary on my key chain so I always have a rosary available.

The same way you use a 5-decade rosary: To count the prayers.
