Most processed foods need refridgeration after opening e.g sauces. Preserves like ketchup don't beacause of all the salt and sugar in them. Same for jam (though some do need to be kept cold, which rather defeats the purpose of a preserve)
Veggies - most, but never keep them in plastic bags as they can sweat and rot. Never potatoes. Definitely never bread (but put in a plastic bag not paper or it'll dry out fast) Eggs I never keep in the fridge (they keep for ages regardless) I think people generally keep far more thing in the fridge than need to be ther, but these are paranoid times. Iv'e never given myself food poisoning by the way.
Keep cooked and uncooked meat seperately though, that's a health and safety point I totally agree with. (I used to work in catering) Also don't defrost frozen meat in the fridge.
I used to live in Uganda and I'd keep my cutlery in the freezer so I knew that cockroaches wouldn't be able to **** on them in the night

Most products that you buy will have "Refrigerate after opening" on the label, if it is suppose to be kept in the refrigerator. Of course frozen dinners should be kept in the freezer. Hope this will help!

Any food can be right except the rotten ones and those that are still hot. You can still put hot foods in the ref to get them to cool faster but I was thinking more of saving on electrical energy.
