No. That is the solution to most of your carry on problems. Just pack it in your checked baggage. Here is the 3-1`-1 rule

check everything that you don't need. Most drug stores like Savon or Rite aid have travel size toiletries. use those and if they confiscate them no big deal. However; here is the rule.

3-1-1 for carry-ons = 3 ounce bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz. container size is a security measure.
Consolidate bottles into one bag and X-ray separately to speed screening.

Be prepared. Each time TSA searches a carry-on it slows down the line. Practicing 3-1-1 will ensure a faster and easier checkpoint experience.

3-1-1 is for short trips. If in doubt, put your liquids in checked luggage.

here is the web site if you need more info.

It depends on what Airport you are flying out of. If you need Liquids in your Hand Luggage, you have to place them in a small plastic bag that is visible from the outside, and the liquids may not exceed 100 ml at most airports... It may seem silly but Pens count too.

You can check the restrictions on most Airline Websites, and Airport Websites.

Yes you may put Liquids in Checked Baggage.
Also, you can buy any of those things after you have cleared security.

You are allowed to pack liquids and gels in your checked luggage and they do not need to regulated by size. You can get a complete list of what is and is not allowed in the aircraft in both your checked and carry on luggage on the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/
Hope this helps and have a great flight!

No, it only applies to carry on luggage. However like the guy above me said, it has to be under 100 ml or something like that, which is less than a regular water bottle.

Remember that if it is alcohol that you are packing that the proof has to be less than 150. You may also pick up duty free on the first segment of your flight but on your next segment (after customs) you will have to check it in your bag.
