For an amateur? I recently started photographing and messing with colors. Please be honest, but not too rude thanks.

This is the one with the cat. Its one of my faves too. I am the girl and I took it myself with my arm extended.

I pretty much agree with everyone else. They look like average shots done with an inexpensive camera, slightly blurry. Don't lose heart though - just keep practicing and read some books on photography from the library.

Hello. As for the rose shot, one a 1 to 10 I'd give it a 5-5.9. The shot is not a crisp and well focused image. The predominant color does not do much to accentuate the rose. I think you do have some talent there, but you will need to put more thought into your photography. The image of the baby is better, and the intimacy of the image is readily seen... which is good. I think perhaps you should get something to SOFTEN the flash which you used so it's not AS strong... but it's a real good shot. The shot of the cat was pretty good too, but of the three the babe is the best. You can tell it was a warm day as you could see it upon the countenance of the sleeping child. As for the cat, that one was better than your rose shot, but I think perhaps I would've created a different backdrop or angle for the shot. Keep honing your muse alright?

"Rose" is nice but would be better if the background was more out of focus than the rose. Nice colors.
"Me" your right eye should be the center of the shot, crop the sides. Back-lighting would reduce the overexposure of the white areas and bring out detail in his face.
"Nerd" very good! The frame is full, the balance is good. The fuzzyness on the upper right makes you look like your brain is so busy, it's vibrating.
"Scan002" your face is a bit washed out, otherwise good. The cat looks a little threatening, would be better if he was stretching his nose toward you a little. Depends when you want to use it.
"anthony" sorry, try again. If you can't get a good pic of a baby, get a new camera.
"baby" better.
Try messing with Photo Shop, you can fix anything! Expect to take 10 to 20 or more shots for each keeper.

The rose one had a few problems. The rose itself was out of focus even though I am guessing it was the main item seen. I was also unhappy with the photo of the man and woman because they both had red eyes showing. That is an easy thing to fix in photos and is a rookie error that you can deal with so it looks like you didn't put in that effort on something you wanted people to like.
I think some of the baby ones were good. I am a fan of closeup photos so the close baby one was my favorite. The one of two guys standing too far from the camera to be seen clearly was an unfavorite for the opposite reason - too far to really see what is happening.

for an amateur they aren't as good as they could be. it's just the subjects your choose aren't really interesting and well if they are not interesting to the general public it is your job as the photographer to find a way to make them interesting or captivating- making us see them in a different way. These look more like snapshots to me. Try experimenting with controlled lighting and the moods those evoke. Also study composition a bit more. i think more depth to your photos might be nice to see. Really I believe anyone can be a good artist it just depends how open you are for making yourself better and motivation helps tremendously. Also you can get a cheap tripod at walmart for about 17 dollars that will do wonders for your photos. And can also help you take narrative self-portrait photos. It's really hard to know what I'm talking about w/out providing you with some examples. Also something really great that you are doing is zooming in and cropping:

I took all of them myself, some for reference photos but as far as interest goes I think they are interesting. and simple. I love patterns and repetition so I use that a lot in my work

The rose one would be good if the object in the center (the rose) is in focus. The thing you want people to focus on should be very clear. I love the baby one. The cat one needs to be more clearer and if your going to be in the picture you shouldn't be half cut off.

The second picture was fine.
The first picture could have been better if the focus had been more on the flower head - pulling it into sharper focus. The stuff in the background, eg. the bottle etc., wasn't really important and so focus didn't need wasting there.

You need to work on not overexposing your pictures. The rose is a good subject but it would be better if the background was out of focus, not the focal point. Just keep shooting only by practice will you improve your work!

I'd say they're both v. good - especially the baby one. The rose could have been more in focus, though, with the background blurred out.
