Why do other atheists try to destroy religions or prove others wrong. I'm atheists by the way. I mean I think its fine when others say that you will go to hell, ( its actually quite funny ) but when people go to extremes like vandalize church property, isn't it just stupid.

As atheists, shouldn't we be tolerant of everybody, no matter what there thoughts are compared to ours. Since when did we try to convert others??? That makes us... uhh hippocrites..

What do you think?

Anybody that thinks that they know all the answers is so full of it. If you are trying to prove that God does not exist, good luck. There is more evidence concerning the existence of an intelligent designer than any other belief system in the world. More people belive in a creator, than those who do not. The main reason is there is definately minimul proof otherwise. The series of books," Evidence That Demands a Verdict", by Josh Mcdowell is a good starting point for all skeptics. Like the saying goes,"stand for nothing(atheism), and you will fall for anything. God/ Jesus is not a crutch but a strecther. Great people who have accomplished great things also believe in God, not just those who need a strecther. For instance, Tom Landry the multiple Superbowl winning coach of the Dallas Cowboys, after he had won all that was possible and at the top of his game accepted Christ as his lord and saviour. When people, atheist or not say ignorant things like (its actually quite funny), as an argument for their belief system, and/ or to make some I know everything type of statement is blowing smoke. Show me some evidence to support your belief, and I will show you 1000 to your one for what I believe and a more solid type as well. For starters Intelligent Design, and why refer to this so much? Because this is what were talking about right, our origins. So go ask your non believing Scientist how they came up with the fact that Evolution has no merit, no substantiating evidence. There has to be a God before you can deny him. That is all Athiesm is anyway. If you believe it so much then live however you want, and take all law out of the picture and see where the world ends up with out the ultimate lawmaker GOD. That is Atheism at its best.

I do not believe in a religion but i don not 'try to destroy' other religions, i work with many muslims and hindus and respect all there beliefs although i do not believe them myself

I have learnt alot by learnign about other peoples beliefs

We do not need to convert others, what they believ in is their right and i will not 'prove others wrong'

If it comforts them and they can lead a happy life through believing it, why should we stop them?

Some people do stupid things, including destroying church properties. Of course we should tolerant and respect others, but that doesn't mean we can't defend ourselves when the occasion calls for it. I try not to destroy the religious beliefs of others, but will rise to the occasion when someone challenges my religious choice.

Well I am kind of lost with words right now! But I am also an Atheist and I have never run into that. I have never heard of Atheist burning churches here in Texas. Maybe they are just satanic than Atheist. They might worship the devil. I get bashed on all the time about being an Atheist because of my tattoos but I can really care less and I just laugh it off.

Steve N that is the most nonsense I have ever heard of! Atheist fear god! WTF is that? How can we fear something that is not their? Smart guy!!

I think atheists should be tolerant of others and that trying to convert others is being hypocritical.

I guess the atheists who try to destroy others' property are basically jerks who are doing it in the name of atheism.

I try to tear them down with reason. I wouldn't rip up their property. I do actively recruit to a point. I think with the political situation in the US we have to.

yes, nobody should vandalise others. I don't try to convert anybody, but if they ask, I'm going to tell it like it is. That's all.

Most atheists aren't trying to convert anyone, and couldn't care less what others choose to believe, as long as it isn't forced upon them. Be careful that you don't mistake educating for proselytizing - most atheists simply explain why THEY don't buy into a particular religion, NOT why others shouldn't.
