Hi. Ever since I was 5, when I stayed at my grandma's, she'd pick on me because of my weight. Like when I'd be in the living room reading she'd be in another room saying how she wishes I'd have more self control, and that I'll never be pretty and that I'm stupid.
She has all these years, but now that I've lost my baby fat, when a relative would say something like "Wow, you've gotten tall!" granny would cut in and say "and THIN!!!" Now it seems that she has to bring up my body size in every conversation with me. What should I do to stop her from picking on me?

You need to put ur foot down and have a talk with her...Tell her you don't appreaciate that and that it's your body and if you felt the need to lose weight you would and you dont need any comments from anyone..

She has her own problems if all she can think about is weight - either yours, hers or someone elses. You don't know what she has been through in her past. I am not standing up for her, she is rude to do this, I think she does have some past issues though. if you cannot ignore her, then say something like, "my weight isn't my first consideration. I work on being healthy and happy." This probably won't shut her up but it is worth a try.

My aunt. My aunt lives quite a ways away (my parents are both dead). Well, I went through a long depression which was debilitating. When I could really function again, I called my aunt to apologize for not calling her etc. I guess she had heard about my depression and my resulting weight loss from it (I was overweight before). So I apologized and explained what I had been through. This aunt says, "but aren't you happy you were able to lose weight honey?" SOME PEOPLE. Does your gran any chance know my aunt.

I think it's just an old lady thing. My grandmother does the exact same thing. My dad and aunts and uncles are all pretty thin, so's my grandmother. So she tries telling people that me being a little bit heavier "isn't in our genes" like it'll make the family look bad. I guess they just want us to hold up to family reputations regardless of how it hurts our feelings. My parent's have talked to her about it and she doesn't realise that a) it's upsetting and b) that it's the wrong thing to do.
Guess it's a combination of getting old and crazy and being old fashioned

she's classifying you with past superficial prejudices. She has issues. Don't take it personally. I have a feeling she does it to alot of other people.

I would limit my contact with her. She sounds like a major yatch!

she has issues, and its probably because she's old and senile. People get ruder, meaner and dumber as they age, especially the really old ones. Just ignore her, she cant help it

Tell her to knock it off or you will judge her by her wrinkles.
