I had my bypass in April 2003. It was a great success, I lost 100 pounds and went from a size 24 to a size 10.
Now, however, I find myself unable to resist snacking. Constantly. I've gone back up in size to a size 12, but I have no idea how much weight I've gained since I'm afraid to weigh myself.
Has anyone else dealt with this? What did you do about it?

Avoid sugars first of all. If you don't dump, sugars will get absorbed into your bloodstream immediately and spike your insulin level, which causes weight gain. Avoid drinks with calories. Try drinking black coffee when you feel a need to snack. If you don't like black coffee, follow it up with a swig of your favorite diet drink (Diet Pepsi works best for me). Eventually, you will acquire a taste for black coffee. The caffeen will help keep you active and kill your appetite. Also, exercise every day.

Best of luck

Speak to a professional about this, There is a spiritual program called "The Weigh Down Diet" which is very successful for the concept of "head hunger" and "stomach hunger". The difference is that we eat when we really are NOT hungry for proper nourishment. I do it too.

One principle of the book is to pray that God would fulfill the "head hunger" with His love and care, so that we feel the sensation of satisfaction from His love and not a Twinkie or a handful of peanuts.

gastric bypass is, unfortunately, not necessarily a final solution. it only forces you to limit your consumption in certain ways. there are ways to eat around a bypass (eg juices, ice cream, frequent small snacks, etc). there is also a possibility that your bypass is failing, eg a gastro-gastric fistula. this is where the staple line excluding most of your stomach is coming undone and some of the food is making its way in to your previously, surgically excluded stomach. you can check for this by doing a barium/water soluble swallow study (a fairly simple study). you may have to just limit calorie consumption the old fashioned way. good luck!

well, first of all your case is the reason my parents will not let me get the surgery.
second, you should get some kind of couseling for a nutritionist. you spend too much money on that surgery to let it all go to waste. go to the doctor/hospital where you had the surgery and see what they recommend. think of what is happening as disease and your not getting better, so you need help. right?? first start at the bottom and work your way up.swith all your snacks to best possible healthy alternative. thats really all the advice i have now.
