Should American newspapapers stop reporting Islamic violence everywhere in the world?

If youve had any conversation with just about any Muslim anywhere in the world, then youve heard the hillarious claim that American media is intentionally bashing Muslims and fabricating their reports. These papers must have thosands murdering muslims on the payroll internationally.

First...Islamic countries have RELIGIOUS STATE CONTROLLED MEDIA, so the idea that American media is programmed implies that Islamic media is not, otherwise, the accusation would be levied against all media and they would include themselves as part of the brainwashed circle.

Secondly, we know the opposite is true. The Muhammad cartoon controversy is case and point. The cartoons were intentionally made by journalists who wanted to end the international pale of Islamic censorship. All journalists know not to criticise Islam or violence is certain, and these journalists wanted end this cloud over journalism...as we all know...THEY FAILED! One American paper reprinted the cartoon and many died.

We must stop reporting the truth about Muslim violence. It makes it very hard to appreciate this peaceful religion when we keep reading about all the killing they are doing! With a good ban on journalism we could end all violence together. Drugs, and murder would be a thing of the past too. And last but not least the falling tree in the forest would make no sound.

You say, "all journalists." I would speculate that maybe 2% don't report the violence and those that don't may have a political agenda, or fear for their lives, etc.

The reason most journalists report the violence because it's news. Journalists should not be journalists if they do not report the news.

If we had no journalists reporting the violence that is occurring in the Middle East, how does the United States, as well as other country's protect themselves from the enemy. Generally, dictators, such as Saddam, did not allow their people to report Saddam's violence against his own people. Look what occured, torture, massive graves of dead people, etc.

Unfortunately, many judge the group as a whole by the actions and attitudes of a few. The same applies to Muslims. Some Americans view all Muslims as terrorists because a few Muslims are terrorists. Many Americans, however, are able to see the difference between the radical fringe and the group as a whole. I would only hope most in the Islamic world would be able to do the same

I agree with the premise of this argument. It is a worrying reality that some muslims believe it is ok to force religion and religious laws on others. My understanding of sharia law leads me to believe that in a country that adopts it people can be prosecuted for speaking out against Islam or not living their lives according to religious law. I may not like George Bush or the Iraq war, but I will never condone the islamic states that oppress criticism and do not respect freedom of speech. All newspapers and individuals should be able to critisize ANY idea or theory.

American media sensationalizes many issues. We also present inconsistent reporting (as a "real" free press would), and there are many biases. It must be confusing for those who are not used to sorting throgh facts. It sometimes seems to boggle many americans.

I believe, as a matter of integrity, that media should be more responsible and objective when reporting... but should not stop reporting what there is evidence to substantiate.

Freedom of the press always includes freedom to lie, present propaganda as fact, and sensationalize.

All we need is more integrity in reporting... but not state imposed, for the US government lacks integrity just as badly...

I think it is a mistake to report all of the terrorism in the world. There are more important things to worry about. Like world hunger, education, helping others, racism, world health care etc. The terrorism is a minor inconvenience in this world and is not going to further the power of the terrorist or their agenda. Terrorism is highly overrated and is a lost cause.

There is something about their culture that westerners will never understand. They are not a free people. They do not value democracy or even understand it. They think Shariah Law is the ideal, they do not believe in the sanctity of human life. They see humankind as slaves to Allah. Your life means NOTHING.

The only time they should stop reporting Islamic violence is when it actually stops, BUT the news should also concentrate on other things as well.
