Im flying out of the UK and in the US i know there are no liquids unless under 100 ml... i need to bring some liquid sleep medicine because i cannot sleep on airplanes and its over 100 ml (ugh!) so if i put 100 ml in a container will they have to check my bag or anything? (basically, will it cause a delay??) thanks!

you will definately have it taken if it's in the original container, as the limit is most definately 100ml... You should find a resealable container that you can put just enough in to get you through the flight. You can take the rest with you in your checked hold baggage with no restrictions.

Also, it will need to be a clear container if possible, and placed with any other liquid items (shampoos etc) in a clear resealable bag (and all liquids can only come to 100ml)

Finally medicines are allowed in your hand baggage. I routinely take a few "basics" (pain killers, indigestion tablets etc) along with my prescribed stuff and I have NEVER had it confiscated... To be on the safe side, if you can, get a doctors letter to support your sleeping medicine, that way if they ask questions, you can show them it.

There won't be a delay provided that everything is planned and packaged properly... small amount in a bottle, rest in your checked luggage, put the bottle in a clear sealed bag, then have it ready for inspection at the security check... With your doctors note if you can get one.

Have fun in the US!

As far as I know the only way that you can take liquids is if they are less than three ounces. If you are taking medicine you need a prescription complete with your name. You may even need a doctors note. To be safe I would carry both the note and prescription with me. Call your Airline they will provide you with better facts and keep in mind that Airline Policies are currently pretty strict and can change without notice.

Note: Be very careful with trying to conceal the medicine (as someone adviced that you hide it in your underwear), you may wind up in a big mess, and miss your flight.

Why don't you just put it into a smaller container (under 100 ml) or just purchase some sleeping pills (made from plants)?
Also, if you have trouble sleeping take some earplugs and eyepatches. If you are in 1st class or Business they will give them to you for free.

hard question. when i flew back from france last weekend, they were checking all bottled liquid to see what was placed inside. I would try to find a travel size version of the sleep medicine or if at all possible try to find something similar in a pill form. With the terror alert as high as it is in the UK, you may have an issue.

Just put it in a smaller bottle. Put the smaller bottle and any other liquids you have in a single quart-size ziplock bag. Carry the bag through TSA, outside of your carry-on bag. Once you get through, you can put the quart-sized bag back inside your carryon.

OR-- just use gel-caps or solid pills instead....

And if you put it in your underwear like a person above said, you will definately be arrested if you are caught, and charged with various federal crimes. Check out www.tsa.gov if you dont believe me.

If you have a prescription for the medicine and if it's in a 100 ml container labeled by the pharmacy, there will be no problem.

Hope that helps!

P.S. I would suggest that you NOT attempt to smuggle it! There are stiff penalties if you're caught.

ok this is kind of cheating, but i think you should put it in your underwear...just as long as there are no metal attachments to the bottle.
