I think 'Lucifer' is an awesome name and it means 'bringer of light'. I think I'll have another boy and name him that!
:-)
Edit: Sigh. A snake is what tempts Eve in the Garden. The word 'satan' is used in Job but the author is referring to an anti-human angel. Satan becomes an anti-God character in the New Testament, making it technically a polytheistic religion. In the Old Testament, Isaiah 45:7 says 'I the Lord make good and create evil. I do all these things'. That contradicts the concept of an anti-God 'angel' (making him a spiritual opponent of God)
Lucifer, Beelzebub, etc were names of different gods or Kings that were opposed to the Hebrew religion. They were all gathered into the same being and given the title of Satan.

Lucifer is Halal or bright boasting. Satan is destroyer. So. Lucifer was a beautiful winged cherabim. And iniquity was found in him so was no longer a bright boasting but a fallen star. Satan is the red dragan whose tail swiped out 1/3 of heavens angels.
That is what the bible writes & so it isn't nonsense.

Lucifer was Satan's name along with Morning Star. However Satan means Liar, and Devil means Rebel, so these two are just titles for the same angel.

I'm fairly certain that that "nonsense" is how the story goes. I'm no expert, but I was under the impression that the Bible outlines Lucifer's rebellion and his then becoming Satan. Different names, same dude, yeah?
Unlike cases of morality, this one truly is governed by the Bible, for it originates and is told in the Bible, just as the plot of Juliet's death must be true to how it is told in the play.

Because the bible says so....the bible said Lucifer tried to take over heaven and he, along with 1/3 of the angels fell from grace and went to hell...
Satan is just another name for Lucifer...that is why I believe that..."nonsense"

I could believe in Lucifer as a fallen angel but to think there is a devil in hell waiting for sinners is ridiculous. I mean really, even a murderer doesn't deserve to burn eternally. That more than pays for that crime over and over. I think we die and our next life is a reflection of this one. For example, if you are a drug addict who never recovered, you will come back again as one because you did not accomplish what you were suppossed to do in this life. When you become giving to the maximum and realize the true purpose for living, it is then you get to go to heaven.

The last thing I rememeber being told was this Lucifer is the ruler of hell he's the main devil. Satan is the prince of hell. I see them as two different things and they have minons called demons that they control..

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. Isaiah 14:12-15
Because it is true. Cap'n Arlo
