Look on Craigslist.com for your area under FREE

People are happy to give away their moving boxes so that they don't have to store them.

Also you can place a free ad under the Wanted section. Someone looking on there may have a bunch of boxes that they can give you.

I usually go to my local supermarket. If you don't want the letters to show, carefully take turn the box so that the words are on the inside. If you don't have a local friendly supermarket willing to give you as many boxes as you need for free...try one in my neighborhood...Spanish Harlem. I don't know if you are close, but if you are...

A FEW you can try:
Associated 102 and lex (one block from train station)
Associated 101st and second avenue
Met 106 St. and bt 2nd and 3rd (closer to 2nd)

There are many, I'm sure you'll find one where you can get all the boxes you need. :-)

If the boxes are for packing to move your household, try to get banana boxes from the supermarket. They always have them and they're a perfect size - easy to carry and they hold a lot of stuff.

Happy landings!

Stop by your nearest grocery store, Wal-Mart, office supply store, restaurant, etc. and ask to speak with the manager and inquire about having them give you boxes. Most will be more than happy to give you what you need!

If all else fails, you can purchase boxes from Office Depot, Office Max, etc.

Try going to auto parts stores and super markets. Lots of them will be glad to get rid of a few boxes. Pep Boys and Auto Zone are great places to get free boxes.

P.S.

I used to work for both of them and gave away lots of boxes!

Sometimes local businesses (stores- Walmart, grocery store, etc.) will save them for you, all you have to do is ask them about it. They don't mind doing so most of the time because it saves them money as far as garbage removal. Give them a call or stop by, usually you just leave your name and they'll have you stop by in a day or two.

Grocery stores are usually happy to give them out...they don't have to deal with them if they give them away. Plus Sam's Club always has TONS of big boxes!

Look on Craig's List. People are always giving moving boxes away if you are willing to go pick them up.

Costco and Sam's Club ALWAYS. Any other grocery store should have them too, just ask.

Any retail store usually will give them to you, early morning when they first open is your best bet.
