My son vomited a little yesterday then developed a fever in the night. He is not vomiting today but still has fever. Gave Tylenol and sponge bath. He is not tugging at ear or saying it hurts. Might this be a passing infection of something else. How long would he have fever from ear infection?

vomiting is most certainly not a sign of ear infection -though it may be a sign of infection.

He has no ear pain? So why are you thinking ear infection?

He has a minor illness if the vomiting has passed I would just wait and see if it gets any worse. He will probably be better in a day or so.

Could be a tummy virus. Just keep him hydrated and giving hime tylenol or motrin for the fever if it get above 100. If it is below 100, unless he is uncomfortable I would't give anything. If he startes complaining of ear pain or they get red in the outside of the ear canal he probably has one. Also a child can have an ear infection and not run a fever.

It is not likely that this is an ear infection, though it is likely to be some other type of infection. Just keep doing the tylenol and sponge baths, and make sure he is getting plenty of water, or pedialite.

Please examine my tale, because it may help you to make an pronounced determination. My son is now close to to 30 years previous. whilst he became 4 years previous, he have been given an ear an infection, which did no longer look so undesirable and wasn't very painful. We placed him on antibiotics, and it did no longer treatment the an infection, neither did the 2d or third direction, because of the fact the antibiotics the wellbeing practitioner gave him weren't reliable sufficient. After some months of this he had a febrile seizure, then progressed between the main intense styles of epilepsy you may get, called Lennox-Gastault Syndrome. He became having as much as twenty+ seizures an afternoon and became on 2 reliable anti-seizure drugs in the time of the worst component to it, and he became between the fortunate ones. some youngsters have greater suitable than 2 hundred seizures an afternoon. It actually fries out their brains. they could desire to be strapped into wheelchairs. thank you be to God, drugs, sparkling sea air, his nutrients plan and my persistance, he have been given administration of it, became seizure unfastened interior a year and a a million/2, and has long on account that been weaned off of the drugs. there have been no ingredient outcomes (different than somewhat bit dysgraphia) and he leads a thoroughly established existence, is married and has a daughter. His pediatric neurologist considered him to be considered one of his "miracle sufferers". each and every so often those youngsters purely worsen and die. so which you would be able to guess that each and every time my granddaughter comes down with an ear an infection, they pay interest to it. She has had tubes in her ears as quickly as, in spite of the undeniable fact that this is a minor element, once you talk approximately the recommendations - no longer purely epilepsy yet a threat everlasting listening to harm or loss. i could propose which you provide him the antibiotics, yet stick to this circulate to as much as the ER immediately with a circulate to on your pediatrician, who could desire to propose a diverse antibiotic or diverse exams. i'm no longer exaggerating something or being glib, yet your youngster's destiny is at stake right here. i desire all is going nicely.
