and not judge the righteousness of each other, and to forgive each other, and not to believe everything you read.

Jesus told us we would be persecuted for His namesake.... this tells me that He knows that when we share His word of salvation and His gift of grace, that we are standing for Him.... however you are right, I believe that we need to uphold each other in righteousness, loving one another and forgiving each other (as He also told us).
Not judging the righteousness of each other means (in my opinion) that we should not question the will of God in other's lives (as is evidenced in Job) however we are asked to hold each other accountable for the sake of the Lord in our lives.... that is believers. And NOT judge those who do not have the Lord for "they know not what they do" for the most part. This raises the entire question of rejection of the Spirit however - and I won't get into that here.... too long.
blessings Unka Wayne :)

St. John put it the best, I think.
1 John 4:20 "If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?"
So many people think they're "defending Jesus," when all they're really doing is cutting the hearts of their brothers and sisters in Christ into bleeding ribbons with their harsh words and condemnation. Just ask any of us who belong to the Catholic church and participate regularly in this forum. We know a lot about being hated by those who claim the Name of Christ. . .and yet refuse to love and respect fellow believers who don't belong to the 'right' church or hold what they think is the correct doctrine.
I really don't think that's what Jesus had in mind when He said, "Love one another as I have loved you."

I think you got it.
I also think that Jesus was a actual person who had a message. A message that got seriously contorted and twisted.
But what do I know..
Everything I know everything!!
