TV stations are required to air public service announcements about various things the government believes is good for the public to know. Stuff like the famous "this is you brain on drugs".

Using the same logic, shouldnt we have anti-faith commercials. Isnt it unhealthy to have faith/unsupported-belief in anything? Most Americans are raised with the crazy idea that faith is a beautiful thing. They cant tell you why faith itself is a good thing, other than the fact that they employ it, that they take their religion "on faith".

Ok, you take your religion on faith, but why is "faith" itself good...isnt it better that we label it an insanity, least ignorant people blindly follow any such stupidity....

I believe that if someone has an anti-faith commercial, they have every right to have it aired, so long as the channel they wish to air it on would allow faith commercials to be aired.

Just because someone can push "Muhammad" or "Jesus", or Shiva, or any other god down someone's throat, doesn't mean the people without the same faiths should be denied the right to push back.

They have the same right to an opinion.

Perhaps they should broadcast a warning to protect people against the unsupported belief that faith is bad. You may have some evidences that faith is bad, but do you know enough on the subject to be so extremist about it? Is it the faith that is bad or the way it was used by some? Are all faiths bad or only some? There are some degree of faith in all believes, even in scientific believes. Where do you draw the line that separates unsupported believes from the supported believes?

Faith in Jesus Christ is supportable so your argument, as it pertains to Christianity is invalid.

Christ lived. His coming was prophesied in the Old Testament many years before he came. Christ taught and lived as an example of how God wants us to live. Christ performed miracles, raising the dead, healing the sick and fed multitudes. Christ died on the cross. All of these things occurred and we have eye witness accounts available for anyone to read. It's called the Bible and scientist are finding more and more that it is historically accurate.

Oh, one more thing. Christ said that he is the son of God. He said that God sent him and that He will return again to gather the faithful to live with him in the Kingdom of Heaven. This is the part which requires a little faith and patience to wait for Jesus to return.

Everyone has faith in something. They have faith that the world will not stop spinning. They have faith that they will wake up the next morning when they go to sleep. They have faith in those they love. Would you also label that as "stupidity"?

You have faith that God doesn't exist. What if He does? How does that change your reality? How does that change your life? What if you are wrong? Can you prove you are right?

Perhaps the really stupid thing is to believe in nothing. Because if you're wrong, you are really screwed. According to the Bible the only unforgiveable sin is to reject God/Jesus.

Do you realize how arrogant and shallow that last statement makes you appear -- to say nothing of intolerance and close-minded? Who are you to say that faith or someone else's belief system is an insanity and that only ignorant people would follow such 'stupidity?'

Atheists accuse fundamentalists and other Christian factions of being narrow-minded bigots. In your case, the reverse is apparently true: based on this post, you're not willing to live and let live in matters of spiritual or religious beliefs.

If you actually feel the way that you claim to in this post (as opposed to trolling for shock value), then you might want to rethink your attitude. It doesn't say much for you as a decent human being, that's for sure.

Just to show that having faith is not insanity: read this article about prayer and healing: http://www.webmd.com/balance/features/can-prayer-heal?page=1.

One has to have eyes that see and ears that hear in order to understand how faith and belief work. Maybe yours is temporarily blinded or deaf. I think of Star Wars....you are either on the Dark Side or the Light Side. I like the Light Side...it is more awesome and the people are great!

Public Service Announcements are open to such as you say...give it a whirl.

Sir, most of the smart people in this country happen to be believers. Atheists are only like 5% of the total population. They are not the majority of college students, nor the majority of scientists and mathematicians and doctors - not now, nor ever in history. When you call believers ignorant you are including some people who mentally can draw circles around you. Educate yourself some more about the facts and then get back to us with the facts instead of your opinions, which are not even supported by the scientific method. I list below some sites to get you started on the road to truth about whose is not ignorant:

This is America. We're guaranteed freedom of speech by the 1st Amendment. If you want to pay for a public service announcement, feel free to do so.

Everyone operates under faith, even athiests. They propose that God doesn't exist.

But since no human knows EVERYTHING, isn't it possible that God exists, but is in the realm of things that the athiests don't know? They have faith that God doesn't exist.

I understand the point you are trying to make, but this idea is ridiculous. People can believe (or not) in anything they want. I also don't believe in missionarys who come to your house and try to get you to go to the church.
